”the hardest part's the awful things that i've seen."
MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | New York City had a habit of producing sweltering summer heat giving most people, smarter people perhaps, a chance to wear their assortment of shorts and tank tops. Yet because of a certain red heads extenuating circumstances, Joshua suffered in the heat with a long sleeved white cotton dress shirt and long light brown pants. His summer ensemble wasn’t quite complete without his signature black gloves, which his hands were basically drowning in. Fortunately for the giant he had suffered greater temperatures overseas as well as army training that toughened him out for these situations.
Still didn’t mean it wasn’t freaking hot. Joshua grumbled around the cigarette in his mouth about the temperature of his classroom as he walked across the campus. He’d had to walk all the way to the maintenance offices to see about getting the A/C fixed before he had to meet up with a professor at the College of Kinesis and Esp and now he was on his way to his nice, cool, A/C working office. Maybe he’d even take a nice nap before he started grading papers. No, he was definitely take a nap when he got to his office. Joshua sighed when flashes of his most recent nightmare went through his head. The hushed whispers and shouted orders in a language he’d rather forget as one of his captors was tossed in front of him needing medical attention. Of course the healer refused but the men were… persuasive to say the least.
Joshua sucked in a steady amount of smoke from the cigarette before slowly inhaling it. Holding his breath for a moment as another memory surfaced. He squeezed his eyes shut trying to force the recollection of screaming and pain that weren’t his, but someone he inflicted it upon. His lungs began to thirst for air, real oxygen rich air, and Joshua let the smoke in his lungs out slowly before taking a breath of what his lungs needed. God he was tired…
He continued his trek across the sun exposed area, forcing himself to think about nothing else than his comfy couch and cool office that he would soon be in. Joshua reminded himself that he needed to grab some water as well. Staying hydrated was critical in his heat.

Can I clear my conscience, if I'm different from the rest, do I have to run and hide? I never said that I want this, this burden came to me, and it's made its home inside. ooc: naps are forbidden. heat exhaustion shall assure this :|
| Growing up in northern Vermont had not prepared Asher for inner city heat waves. He was accustomed to wearing gloves and a jacket throughout the year. In the summer months, he normally just sat by his grandparents' window air conditioner while drawing or reading.
Walking to his class today was brutal, especially since he still hadn't fully recovered from the past few days of this heat wave. His stinging skull felt like it was throbbing and stuffed with cotton, and his limbs weren't listening to him like they used to. He couldn't focus. He couldn't think. He likely looked like a mess, with his hair sticking to his skin glistening in sweat and his eyelids drooping over unfocused orbs.
Although he was wearing jeans which were long enough to cover the top of his boots, a dark, long sleeved shirt, and gloves to cover all of his skin below his neck, he still felt exposed and more insecure than usual without his jacket. Granted, right now he was too concerned about putting one foot in front of the other and wondering if his pounding heart would explode in his chest to be overwhelmingly worried about that. In fact, he didn't even notice that he was walking right in the path of another person until the towering figure was right in front of him.
Luckily he had enough sense to stumble a few steps back before potentially faceplanting onto the man's chest. Asher blinked a few times and furrowed his thin eyebrows. Huh. He was really tall. After a moment, he attempted to mumble a weak apology for getting in the way, "S... sor--". Unfortunately, the world began blurring and tilting at unnatural angles before he could finish. His legs gave out beneath him as he fell unconscious. made by iceguin |

”the hardest part's the awful things that i've seen."
MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Comfy couch, cool A/C, comfy couch, cool A/C, couch, A/C… The mantra kept going in his head as sweat poured down the back of Joshua’s neck. Another exhale of warm smoke and Joshua contemplated rolling up his sleeves like he always did when it got hot. The idea was quickly tossed away of course as Joshua didn’t want any accidental brushes of skin with any one. His empathic touch gave him such an aversion to skin-to-skin contact he would rather risk heat stroke. Not that he would get it so easily.
It was the humidity that really got to him, the sticky feeling on his skin. He never had to deal with such humid heat when he was a kid growing up in the desert. There it was just hot and dusty, dry, but at least you could breath without feeling like you were drowning. Same with where he was stationed overseas, not that he would like to go back there anytime soon.
He rubbed his eyes with gloved fingers and returned to the mantra he established. Joshua almost didn’t notice someone about to bump into him until the very last second. Compared to the average person the redhead was exceedingly taller. This lead to somethings going unnoticed if he didn’t look down in time. Lucky for him the student noticed the possible collision course and took some steps back. Very unsteady steps back.
While Joshua paused he looked the kid up and down, being a medic he had developed skills to assess health situations. Plus he’d seen similar symptoms many times over. Glazed eyes, profuse sweating, and unstable movements. This kid was suffering from a form of heat sickness and if he didn’t do something soon the boy would faint.
And just as the thought crossed his mind the kid collapsed to the ground. Joshua probably should have caught him… Too late now, he thought with a sigh and knelt next to the collapsed student. Some people were starting to gather but Joshua ignored them for the most part. He was more focused on the idiot who decided to wear dark clothes in this sun, it’s no wonder why the kid fainted.
Reluctantly Joshua took off his gloves, he’d have to see if this was just heat exhaustion or heat stroke then try to lower the students temperature. Gently he placed his bare hand on the kid’s sweat soaked forehead and tried to look around for any signs of heat stroke.
