[attr="class","stafftitle"]FAQ
[attr="class","staffbod"]Q: I wanna a play a hottie super-villain!! Where's the option to rp a supremely evil antagonist?
A: Well young lad, lady or misser, I admire your ferocity! However, for now, straight-up villains are unplayable since we want to focus on these beautiful, young rapscallions at university. Fear not though! Who's saying that all of the students are equally enthralled by the idea of becoming a superhero…
Q: Can my character have more than two powers?
A: To avoid characters being overpowered, you can only have two powers. If you choose to include only one power in your application, your character can gain their second power through whatever practical reason you like, but no one is allowed a third power.
Q: How do genetics for powers work?
A: To put it simply, genetics responsible for superpowers are unpredictable. They can manifest on their own, be passed on from parent to child, or skip certain children or even generations. This means that some heroes may have parents with no powers, and/or siblings with no powers.
Q: Can my power do *this*?
A: There are a ton of powers out there, and each power can be used in many different ways. It's hard to gauge if your power will be accepted without knowing a lot of information about it. Please make sure you are very descriptive in your application. Make sure you consider the following: how is it used? Is it even useful? Who is affected by it? How many people can be affected by it? Is there any strain on the user? What kind of limitations are there?
To make a good power, please keep all this and more in mind. While there are plenty of overpowered, all-powerful superheroes in superhero lore, this isn't acceptable in our RP! If you need help thinking up a power, consider PMing a staffer with an in-depth description of your idea.
Q: What kind of technology fills a power slot?
A: Since we accept non-powered individuals to be heroes, we have included that you can talk about a technology that your character uses instead of a superpower. However, if your character (powered or not) uses some kind of low-tech gear to help them, this does not count as a power slot. Also, if your low-tech gear does not directly aid your character with his or her powers, it doesn't count as a power slot. However, if your character is non-powered and climbs walls for his "theme", for example, any wall-crawling technology would be put into his power slot — even if it is just a rope. However, since you have the ability to create very high-tech gear, why not go for something fancy?
Q: What does it take to be a professor? A faculty member?
A: Professors are usually characters who have a good deal of hero experience (at least 5 years, more is always better!) Since in the "real world" professors have taken quite a bit of extra education to be experts in their field, superhero professors need to have a good deal of experience using their powers and using them in the real world. However, there are always exceptions to the rule! If a character has an unusual power, they may be able to get a job teaching as a professor without having much or any "real world" experience. If you're interested in this route and need more information, ask the staffers.
Faculty are a bit different. They don't need much or any real world experience to do their jobs. They don't even need to have powers, technically! Still, if you have any questions about this, ask the staff — we're more than willing to help out!
Q: What about DC and Marvel comic books - do they exist in this universe?
A: Yes siree, those big boys still exist and their fictional heroes are still known within this universe! However, they aren't the top dogs of comics in Vireximus University's universe. Official comic books of superheroes fare a lot better. 8^)
Q: What is the government's role in superheroes?
A: The government's role in superhumans is very restricted. The UN has protocols to control the employment of superheroes in the armed forces and secret service. While we know that governments like defying UN laws all the time in Vireximus University's universe they are kept! Additionally, the corporate world is very much "SMALL GOVERNMENT!!!!" on any issues that involve the regulation of sponsor companies. So while some superhumans may find themselves in the employ of the government sometimes we're staying away a plot from any secret government agencies or international diplomacy involving superheroes.
Q: Can my character be an android or part robot?
A: Yes, we do allow for characters to be either androids or have robotic parts of their bodies. However, on KA-BAM! we like to keep an equal playing ground between everyone, so being an android/robot cannot give your character an advantage over a normal superhuman. Androids need to have limitations just like all other characters do.
As the staff gets more questions, we'll update this! Keep checking back!
