Casey was sitting in the passenger seat of a cherry-red sports car that couldn't possibly be an official university vehicle, and she was being driven by a woman who could only be described as the coolest person on Earth by her appearance alone. A large brown suitcase full with clothes, books, and dozens of notebooks sat on her lap; she had the feeling that she would look more than a little suspicious lugging this gigantic thing around effortlessly, but that was a distant problem. At the moment, she was focused more on the gigantic traffic jam she and the recruiter had been stuck in for the past thirty minutes. Right now, she felt she'd sooner die from boredom than get outed as a non-human freak. Worse still, the radio was blaring loud music with growling lyrics that she swiftly grew to hate, but when she had tried to change the station, one glare from the coolest person on Earth stopped her before she could even touch the dial.
Casey didn't think the recruiter was quite as cool after that.
Bored bored bored bored bored bored bored. This music sucks. I hate this music. Thought Casey, who was resting her head on the suitcase. Occasionally, she'd look at the recruiter when the car inched forward, but she was always staring straight at the road with a bored expression on her face.
Sitting up, Casey briefly looked outside the window. Sure enough, cars were lined up seemingly for miles ahead of her, and progress down the road was practically inches a minute. They were obviously going to be here for a while, and the idea of sitting in a car for hours and listening to this crappy music...well, it was genuinely terrifying. At that moment, she just couldn't take it anymore. Her hand shot at the radio's volume dial, which she pressed to kill the sound. The only sounds left were the many, many car horns outside, but that was like music to her ears comparatively.
Staring at the recruiter like a deer in headlights, Casey's mind raced to think of something to say before things got ugly. "Um... I-I just wanted to ask about the... the uh... the university!" She exclaimed, flashing what she hoped was a winning smile.
