Kaylee didn't have any physical prowess; her powers were more of the mind and spirit than of the body. So she wasn't really supposed to have anything to do with the Evers College...but part of her had always wanted to see what it looked like on the inside ever since she'd been accepted to the university.
Since her history class had been canceled last minute and she just happened to be walking by the college, Kaylee let herself in through the large double doors and listened as her heels clicked across the quiet entryway. Everyone else had class at the moment so she was alone for the most part. And it was nice too, because she didn't have to worry about bumping into anyone.
Or so she thought.
As she neared the stairwell she had her head turned upward to admire the architecture of the building when she smacked right into a powerful back. Awkwardly she shuffled backward, barely managing to keep herself upright as she blinked the stars from her vision. "I...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to...to..."
But she couldn't even finish her speech because fear had overtaken her. Standing before her was the werewolf villain, Luke. | @luuk |

“didn't mean to what?”
his words were enunciated so precisely, so emphatically - a stark contrast the the girl's stuttering and, once again obviously, this was purposeful. and as the professor looked down on her, scowling at her so much it felt like it was a surprise his teeth weren't bared. luuk lyall, a professor of shifting at vireximus university, was a man not in a good mood as he looked down to kaylee smith.
but just moments after he said that, he sharply turned his head elsewhere, body twisting as if his eyes were frantically searching around the stairwell for something. his attention was completely off her for that time, only to return when he craned his neck back at her. he was quiet then, silent, and stared at her. observed her, maybe - he must have been looking for some kind of reaction. because moments later, he lifted his arm and made a fairly vague, expansive gesture, pointing up the stairwell and starting in a much less certain whisper, “did you hear that?”
it seemed silent afterwards but it wasn't long before he was craning his neck up the stairs again. and when he turned back down to her he was close - not as close as when she had bumped into him, but definitely close enough that she could probably get the spit off his breath as he started again, a bit more ferociously, “that sound.”
@kat / sorry a werewolf professor spat in kaylee's face

Was it Luuk or Luke? Kaylee would have to think about that later as the male turned to her before she could run away. She gulped loudly, already feeling herself sweat under his intense glare. She really hadn't meant to do it, and he probably understood that...but he used to be a villain, so he probably did things like this for fun.
"...I d-d-didn't mean t-t-to...run into y-you..." she choked out, barely able to breathe as she turned her eyes to her own feet. It was as if a weight was baring down on her and she couldn't look up even if it meant saving her own skin. And she was about to pass out from pure fear, but his next words caught her off guard.
Instead of berating her, he asked her if she heard a sound. His voice was so close that she blushed when the heat from his breath crossed her ears and she looked up to stare him directly in the eyes, which surprised even Kaylee herself. "S-sound...? I...I didn't hear...a-anything..." Her voice was but a whisper as she blinked, then moved her vision over to where Luuk had mention before. | @luuk |

she was stuttering. as luuk looked back at her again he realised she was stuttering and going to keep stuttering. it hadn't just been whatever shock she had been going through. or was it because she was lying quite so tremendously? a clear lack of sympathy was going to be continuous on luuk's part - partially because of the preoccupation on the part of the sound but, also, who in this day and age stuttered.
again! luuk knew he heard it but that time he moving to face the noise. instead, he choose to keep his eyes entirely on kaylee, watching her reaction and keeping entirely silent otherwise. the impromptu staring match ended after about ten seconds of nothing but eyes from him, backing away from her. it seemed she wasn't lying. supposedly. but the sound.
“name. year,” luuk stated sharply - minus the spit this time - and questions that didn't so much sound like questions as much as commands. his hands bobbed silently, counting the seconds away on his fingers as he attempted to divvy out anything about what he was hearing, “you certain you didn't hear anything?” he doubted she wasn't it.
someone was playing him, though. and luuk wasn't going to let this go. so at sound of the whistling again he immediately growled, “you're going to lend me a hand here, 'kay?” luuk punctuated the end with an okay to be polite. it was not a question otherwise and he was ready to assure her it wasn't.

She really didn't know what was going on. Why couldn't she just leave and run away back to her dorm room? Goosebumps rose along her arms and she held back a shiver as Luuk turned to her, eyes staring into her soul as if to see if she were lying to him or not about the sound.
But eventually he gave up and asked her for her name and year. "Kaylee Smith...sophomore." she whipped out quickly, not stuttering because she said it so fast. It all kinda mushed together, but he didn't seem to care because he was already telling her something by the time she finished speaking.
"Y-yes sir..." Why was this happening to her? She just wanted to go! | @luuk |
