stuck in a fountain was no place for a righteous hero of justice to stay.
regardless, leg wedged under a sheet of ice, soaked up past his waist in water, julio had to accept it was a place he was going to be that saturday night. with the gentle patter of evers college's fountain against the water's surface and against his shoulder the somewhat quiet, close to empty college campus left room to contemplate one thing and one thing only: was the situation his fault?
the answer that fell swith to him was that, obviously, a hero of justice is certainly infallible just as the course of justice so no! and t'was an answer later withdrawn whence came the reasoning that perhaps, just possibly, he had made a minor mistake attempting to wrestle someone capable of manipulating ice in a pool of water. it had otherwise been an agreeable confrontation, vegas would assure one that! but he'd likewise assured his opponent he'd catch up with her soon enough. t'was unfortunately before he realised just how solid her ice was alongside another realisation that his own dermal armour that had spread along his leg and made it nigh possible to pull out.
similarly, julio had one last realisation the ice water showdown may have chipped off part of the central display in the fountain. perhaps why half of the water he was being sprinkled with came out erratically but he couldn't see through the ice that coated half of it, still left over from the struggle.
and a new struggle had been born! namely, how the hero vegas was going to get his leg out of the ice before it could escalate into something worse.
and on hearing footsteps, julio thought he had his saviour! attempting to crane his neck around, from where he was in the fountain. attempting to wipe drenched hair out of his face, wincing slightly as he brushed something of a gash along the right side of the head he'd managed to get earlier, he squinted to look with what light was left on the campus. there was the sound of a splash as his hand hit the water when he tried to steady himself in the water, announcing, “halt!”
“who goes there? friend… or foe?” unlikely to be anyone he knew at this time. a tongue ran across his top lip nervously but julio faltered not in his dramatic delivery. neither did he with the quick cry of, “hark! do you hear that, wayward stranger?”

Tasha couldn't count the number of times she'd responded to calls regarding this boy. Well technically she could -- she had a computer that could rattle off more than a thousand digits of pi without stuttering for a brain --, but that wasn't the point. The point was that Julio Vegas was one of the more problematic students she'd met in her few years at Vireximus and it seemed he wouldn't be changing any time soon. The call she got to day was all the evidence she needed. Not only had Julio wrestled someone once again but this time he'd lost and found himself frozen and bleeding in the fountain.
When she reached the scene of the confrontation Tasha found herself just stopping and staring for a second. Partially to survey the damage, but mostly to figure out how she needed to deal with the self-proclaimed immortal today. When he proved himself to be just as dramatic as always it made it easier. Direct comments and a serious tone would be important.
"Freshman Julio Vegas, finding you stuck in this position is completely unsurprising," Tasha's comment came out in a monotone, her helmet speaker's set to medium volume. She found this tone did a decent enough job keeping Julio from thinking she was going to play along with his antics.
"While I would not necessarily call myself your friend, I am friendly. I'm here to retrieve you and assess the damage caused by your delinquent activities." She continued to speak as she approached the fountain, ignoring his questions about noises in the distance. Instead she set herself to the task of freeing Julio from his ice prison. Not wanting to alarm Julio she approached the fountain slowly and spoke as she did so, "I'm going to free you from the ice and then help you exit the fountain. Do not respond in a violent or otherwise hostile manner. If you plan to it is my job to warn you that it will result in an equally hostile response and may require me to physically restrain you."
Hopefully this would go smoothly. Or at least as smoothly as you could expect from Julio.

it seemed that lady fate served him further challenge that night! for not only was he destined to wrestle an ice manipulator but there appeared another showdown on the horizon.
at least, that was julio's first thought as the voice revealed the identity of his supposed saviour before what little light there was did. his breath caught in his throat, not quite relieved but not quite happy as on the list of bounteous fates an appearance from vireximus' security staff was positioned low. it took him a moment longer to recall the other's name; quicker than julio's typical powers of recognition and that was likely because an android was more memorable than most security.
the dull, cold pain from the temperature didn't keep julio thinking on her identity for long though. his leg ached but there was only something resembling wonder in his voice when he replied to the staffer, repeating, “completely unsurprising…?”
“t'was foretold then? fair enforcer tasha experienced a prophetic vision?”
even his splashing in the water sounded excited. julio's voice had no doubt gone up in volume. while he was shivering in the fountain the freezing water was unable to dampen his spirits and merriment at the faculty member's supposed newly developed second sight, “then 'tis on prophecy she finds herself here this eve.” a triumphant laugh, eyeing her as she stepped closer, “behold! enforcer tasha is ensnared in the web of a hero of justice's fate now – best she tread with care.”
julio did pull a face at “delinquent activities” and while his mouth opened to say something he ended up hesitating. a brief glance to his surroundings perhaps looked bad to some but, nay, this was no where near delinquent activities. so while the side of his head continued to bleed vegas suddenly clutched at above his heart with one hand, wincing with sudden pain, raising his other hand out, palm spread indicating for her to stop, “cease! such an accusation…” he trailed off tragically, pausing for effect while pulling at the fabric of his cut-off shirt, “'is it not unjust to conclude this is the fault of a noble champion such as vegas?” a dramatic groan, “oh, how his heart aches at such baseless assertions!”
“does she not see the truth of this happening? hath she already been deceived?” he probably would have continued immediately he not slipped back into the water after an unsuccessful attempt at resting his hand back on the bottom on the fountain. ice was still coated parts of the base of fountain but he tried to recover quickly. his elbow had hit the bottom of the and the pain throbbed, something on top of his leg, head and apparently still his heart he continued to clutch at, “the enforcer must look within herself! rely on her newly awakened powers to see the truth of the matter – can she find it?”
her choice to ignore vegas' call to listen was a slight blip in his initial introduction – julio was used to being granted a few moments of time with the confusion in order to derail for justice. instead, she moved straight onto business and her clear commands did not appear to soothe vegas. he was still resistant and the mention of delinquent activities spooking him.
“step no closer,” raising his voice again he continued, raising that hand that pawed at his chest to his temple, “for vegas must warn that certain doom awaits the law-woman if she so moves into these murky depths.” murky depths being the barely knee-high water. and to illustrate the malevolence, there was a pathetic splash of water – this time t'was from vegas and aimed at tasha, “vegas shall escape this iced hell on his own!”
did splashing at someone count as “hostile manner”?

This boy was a fool. At least, that's the word Tasha thought fit best when describing his actions. Every time she ran into him he made her statements into some convoluted story completely unrelated to the situation at hand. It was something she was more used to experiencing with children, in fact she didn't have a single human stored in her memory that used their imagination as much as Julio. Today seemed to be no exception as he once again twisted her words. "Prophetic visions are a rare occurrences that I am incapable of having. While I was programmed to dream and predict I lack the ability to see into the future through either," Tasha spoke simply in reply to Julio's comments, "Though I will thank you for your positive reviews regarding my work as campus security. It has made me happy." It was nice to know that some of the student body thought she was good at her job, even if it was one of the more delusional members. "I will say this once more. I can not have visions of the future, and you are not a great hero of fate. Delinquent activities is -- in fact -- a very accurate description of what you've done tonight. Wrestling another student, and in the progress damaging not only yourself but also campus property." Tasha honestly didn't know how to make headway with this student. The way he just kept insisting she had powers she did not, and the fact that he never seemed to grasp the fact that he made mistakes. It wouldn't matter if she took him to the Dean or a professor, he simply didn't get it. Maybe she was doing this wrong. Maybe this was another human behavior she'd have to adapt to. Tasha had learned early in life how experiments worked, and her hypothesis on how Julio could be best dealt with seemed to be completely incorrect. There was only one thing to do, revise her methods. "While I have tried to see past the deceptions I have been told, this great seer can see nothing but the errors of your ways." Tasha began, her tone more than a bit uncertain, "and, as an enforcer of the law I must use what I have been told to take you to a just trial. I will remove you from this icy prison and --" Water splashed against her visor and Tasha paused. Not very far from the edge of the fountain, Tasha completely ceased moving. After a quick check to make sure no water had breached her surface, she finally took another step forward and spoke. "I would advise you, brave hero, to avoid using such foul water magics on me." Tasha's voice took on a serious tone, "Further spells of this nature will be treated as threatening actions, and will require much less civil treatment of your problem. Now, please allow me to free you from the ice and help you to your room."JULIO VEGAS
