Tsubaki’s horror struck mind was brought back, first the weapon that had caught the snake’s attention but next up was the buzzing coming from her earpiece. She quickly pressed against it, first hearing Julio and next was Professor Orrin, both making the same suggestion of getting her attention back to the villain.
And with the snake distracted Tsubaki stood back up, finding Serpenta. Her brown eyes locked back on the falling woman, who was caught in the vertex. Once more, she set her concentration on the hazed out woman, placing her hands on her temples, letting the connection come around once more.
Tsubaki licked her lips despite everything feeling dry and narrowed her eyes. Once more there was that mental barrier that she could touch and hopefully this time she could break through. Julio was right, why would she need the civilians and hopefully answers will come around this time, as long as no distracted her.

that little dismissive wave in her direction got her back right up. "it ain't a goddamn suggestion, agnoire!" she let out a few undignified curse words and then a sharp gasp at the instant the girl was knocked back. from her position keeping the balloon lifted so the last few people could crawl out from beneath it, she could do nothing - which was why zephyr's initiative relieved her as much as it did. as disrespectful of authority he was, he was smart and capable of using it under pressure, and right now that was all that mattered.
"i think i've just about got it done..." she ground out, focusing the beam a little tighter into what she calculated as the dead centre of the balloon. that was about the highest altitude it was gonna get, about ten feet at the most rather impressive for acoustic levitation alone. if she went any harder, eardrums were gonna start popping. "gotcha, warner, keep 'em off me until i can get this damn thing outta the way..." the strain of keeping the edge of the balloon nearest her just taut enough to stay under control was starting to make her grasping hand - and her voice - shake. "ezra, y'can move out some, i've got enough support t'last me just fine! fear's right, we've gotta -"
instead of finishing her sentence she just let out a faint noise of exertion. any lapse of concentration now and she could flip the deflated balloon right back on top of them.

Normally Ezra would be rather hard pressed to take direction from a student - after all, he was a teacher and his role was generally the one giving the orders, not receiving them. However, Zephyr's idea was a good one, and Rosie asserted that she had all the cover she needed.
"Right," Ezra agreed, biting his lower lip as he widened his stance, eyebrows furrowed and eyes screwed ahead in concentration. Extending his arms, he shot a line of ink out at a light pole, where it stuck. Almost as if the ink had a mind of its own, it grew and crept in a web-like state, knitting itself into a net pattern. It expanded until it created a large square - roughly six feet by six feet - starting from the light pole, then straight across to a light pole beside it, and ending in his very own hands. He held it tight like a makeshift trampoline. That should do nicely, right?
"Okay, ready," Ezra called to Zephyr.

Still deep in the crowd, the panicking people push and shove at the boy in every direction. Eli is still stupefied from the creatures but through the harsh force of the mob him comes to. Not realizing that the nature of his classmates have somehow rubbed onto him, he starts charging for the nearest victim with an unclear head. Despite the irking feeling that he really shouldn't, he lunges his whole body and fist at the attacker. His thoughtless attempt succeeds however with no positive result as the force is no where near enough to even hit a person to the ground. Luckily the strike is enough to startle the creature into letting go before soaring back high in to the sky. Though the odd success gives no reassurance as it was just luck that the creature surrendered so easily.
"Ca-crap, I really am useless."
His small mingle with the single minion managed to distract the boy from the real fight. Leaving him completely unaware of the scary mess going on till he turns his head to see a larger mass of monsters falling from the burning heavens. His mind panics more than ever before, but rather than running away, his legs pull him through the crowds as his eyes glance around struggling to find the classmates he saw moments earlier. He doesn't have to think hard to know that strength can come in numbers and that in moments like these eventually the others will gather.
As he makes his way closer to the fighting gang, he steps into a clearing. Feeling thankful for the blissful moment of relief till its short life shatters from the sight of a truck ranging across the pavement and slamming into Evanthe. Evanthe!? Eli's shoulders jump up from imagining the pain, not realizing that she's still okay as she bickers at the vehicle. It isn't the end of his worries either as his eyes glance as the behemoth mixed with all the smaller minions not far from Evanthe and the truck.
I'm gonna have to fight that thing aren't I
His eyes widen knowing that he doesn't stand a change against it, or at least not without using his power. Eli wants to move back, but his body is prettified as his head runs in endless circles.

[attr="class","staffbod"]She had fallen a long way, but her minion had caught her just in time. Serpenta was woozy and bleary, but mostly she was beginning to get angry for letting herself blunder like this. When she could see properly again, she looked at all the destruction around her, though, and felt a slight sense of pride. At least what I'm doing is not for nothing.Still, just as she was starting to wake, something landed on her legs and the monkey holding her lost control. A hand was gripping at her skirt and with an angry kick that was as strong as she could muster right now, she slammed her heel into her assailant's face. However, the impact caused them all to crash to the ground. The attacker, who she could see more clearly now, had landed first, followed by the mutant monkey and then Serpenta. The mutant fell limp and Serpenta struggled to her feet, kicking the monkey to the side and grabbed Knightley by his cloaks. "I remember you," she said to him and only him before stepping back, anger glinting in her aquamarine eyes before she launched herself back into the sky, trying to regain control of the situation. She couldn't go as high, however, because the helicopters were bearing down and she was starting to feel woozier the higher she went up. That damned gas bomb was still affecting her. No matter. She could just do her work from here. Turning, she noticed a girl aiming some kind of weapon at her snake, and just before she could personally attack the little witch herself, she noticed that a strange, sticky goo covered the snake's scales upon the "bullets" impact. Meanwhile, the snake turned on the girl who had attacked, and hissed. The goo definitely slowed the creature down, but it could still move and it had turned its sights onto Wilhelmina now. The snake slithered towards the girl, forgetting all about the previous two targets, lunging deftly once the creature was in range with fangs bared. The behemoth hadn't exactly done his job, and Serpenta wasn't happy. A truck had crashed into him, and she knew whose doing it was. That damned blonde boy was becoming a major pain in her side, and he quickly moved to the top of her hit list. This was a job she wanted to complete personally. He was talking to another one of his supposed teammates, and once their conversation ended Serpenta dove in. Descending from the air she landed in front of him and with her strength quickly returning, she grabbed the blonde by the hair and pulled him back, his long locks giving her so much leverage. Yanking him back she wrapped an arm around his neck, and a few of her cronies flew close as backup. "You're in the way," she muttered in his ear before pulling his arm back at the incorrect angle until she could hear a sickening crunch, and dropped him to the ground in a heap. Springing from the ground again, she returned to her place in the sky. By now the behemoth was standing up once more, worse for wear but still full of fight, and it noticed a boy staring in it's direction from a ways off, and after launching into the air, the mutant made a beeline for the boy, hurtling through the air in his direction. The people were still resistant to move, having entered a panic mode. They were like a herd of frightened cattle, stampeding this way and that but ultimately unable to listen to reason or do anything orderly. This posed problems for the heroes as well as the police, as the crowd would listen to no one, not even one of their own kind. The offensive team rolled a 3, the defensive team rolled a 2.
The next round ends on 1/27 in the midday, cbox time (Central USA time). I'm giving an extra day because lately I've been getting the replies out a bit late, and hopefully it gives people enough time to get all their replies in!
PLEASE NOTE: The event will be ending soon, so to have any chance at defeating Serpenta, you must concentrate your efforts and work as teams!
OFFENSIVE: @orrin, JULIO VEGAS, @phantom, THEODORE 'THEO' TEMPLETON, @hugh
DEFENSIVE: @etoile2, @dee3, @ninjaofcheese, ELI MADDOX, @toccatina, ZEPHYR FEAR
JULIO VEGAS has skipped round 3 and will rejoin in round 4, the current round.

listen to the color of your dream. All things considered, things weren't going absolutely terribly. Eva hadn't been crushed by a giant mutant monkey, his professors were actually listening to him for some godforsaken reason, and the police weren't actively interfering with them. Sure, unless the offensive group was being significantly more effective than the defensive one the situation wasn't under control at all, but at least they were helping out a few people. "Sure, sure," he replied to Eva with a smirk, "Just stick with Eli workin' monkey ground control and try not t' get yaselves killed."Meanwhile, he opened his bag again, grabbing a fist-sized box and opening the lid to release its contents: four buzzing, robotic bees. To be perfectly honest, he had initially made them just to freak people out and annoy the hell out of anyone in the library. Still, assuming these goons had a basic nervous system, repeatedly stinging the hands of the monkeys would probably be enough to make them drop whomever they were carrying. He had a chance to test it on one monkey flying by the net who was carrying a little girl before things began to go bad. "Alright," he began to say to Rosie and Heiko "when yer done with what yer doin' you can both-- oh f--" he cut the transmission before he could finish cursing when he found himself face to face with Serpenta herself. Well, so much for the effectiveness of the offensive team. As she pulled his hair and put him in a headlock, Zeph realized in hindsight that leaving himself completely undefended was probably not the wisest of decisions. His knee-jerk reaction was for one hand to fly up to the arm she had around his neck to try to pull it away and the other to flick out his pocket knife and stab her in the shoulder. There wasn't much that could really rattle Zeph, but having his neck squeezed like this reminded him of a time when he was being suffocated by the smoke of his burning home. There were so many comebacks to what she whispered in his ear. Something along the lines of "Finally, I'm annoying enough to draw the attention of Serpenta herself. Surely my life is now complete," "Aah, sempai finally noticed me," or "Of course, I'd do anything to stop this travesty of overused cliches" would have been the standard sarcastic bullshit to come out of his mouth, but for once Zeph was speechless. The knife wouldn't have done much damage, since the arm that was holding it almost instantly got grabbed and twisted at an awkward angle, forcing him to drop the blade. It hurt and, yes, he was afraid. He could see the protective wall of mutants around them; she had the time to kill him if she wanted to. No one was coming to save him. It was just like the fire... everyone who was supposed to protect him was helpless. He was helpless. Zeph felt his arm snap more than he heard it, but his shout of pain got caught in his throat, reducing it to an inaudible whimper amongst the chaos happening around them. But then, just like that, she was gone. He was free. His body was shaking and his vision was blurred, but he was alive. Why hadn't she killed him, or, at thee very least, completely incapacitated him? She must have a goal that was greater than mindless murder and destruction, and that bothered him. But he couldn't think about that right now. There were more pressing problems. He took a few shaky breaths to calm himself down and wiped away the budding tears from his eye with his good arm. A grimace snuck onto his typically carefree expression when he glanced down at his arm, which now seemed to have an unnatural -- not to mention overwhelmingly painful -- bend in it. He wanted to grab it, move it, do something with it, but the general consensus of the internet was telling him that keeping it still was best, so he tried to restrain himself. "That cunt broke my arm," he muttered with a strained voice into the bluetooth and projecting the message to his group, voice cracking slightly near the end. After a short pause, he added, "I'm fine otherwise." Ah, did Ezra still have the net up? If he did and if no one had crushed all four of his bees, Zeph would go back to quietly stinging monkeys, albeit more slowly than before since he couldn't stop his eye from blurring from the pain. That in conjunction with his lack of depth perception could have caused someone to completely miss the net if he rushed things. everyoneee )o) |

Heiko was getting more than annoyed with his butchered up and deformed evolutionary theoretical ancestors. Each time he'd put one down there he swore there was another one right behind it. It was becoming some kind of twisted old school video game. While Heiko had an endless supply of ammunition from the shadows around him he couldn't help but to wish for some kind of firearm. Constantly tapping in to his power was draining on him. He had adrenaline backing him up right now but as soon as that ran out he was going to be running on empty.
While Heiko's attention was focused on dropping the minions that were swooping down on the panicking hoards of civilians, to which neither the super heroes nor the police were able to bring order and get them to evacuate. At this point they needed to put an end to this right now if they wanted to keep things under control. At least that is how it was looking from Heiko's perspective. From the sky Serpenta descending. She wasn't the main focus of Heiko's attention until her figure started coming closer to them. The onslaught of deformed monkeys prevented Heiko from taking an a shot at the villain.
Firing his last conjured bolt Heiko started pulling from the shadows again. While he did that he took a glance around him forcing him self to be constantly aware of what was going on to avoid tunnel vision. He watched as Serpenta strangled Zeph. "Damn bitch is lucky at the moment." Heiko muttered as he gathered energy. He wanted to take a shot at her. And at this range he would have a hard time missing but there was the fact she could use Zeph as a human shield. And judging by how things were now the odds wouldn't be in Heiko's favor.
Watching his friend fall towards the ground, placing faith in the pink head near by to help, Heiko redirected his focus as an idea came to fruition in his mind. An idea spawned from essentially from anger. He took on more shadows to him to the point his entire body radiated with a dark malevolent looking aura. "Someone better tell those helicopters to move." Heiko shouted really to anyone. Hopefully they would listen. "I've about had it with this bitch." Bolts of shadow started to populate Heiko's arms and when there was no room the continued to make their way up his arm. Their placement and appearance looked eerily like belt links from military grade belt fed weapons.
"That cunt broke my arm, I'm fine otherwise." All Zeph suffered from was a broken arm, and by Heikio's standards a blessing at the moment.
Bringing his right hand up he pushed the ear piece in and finally made use of the wireless device. "I'm gonna toss bolts up at her. A shit ton of 'em to keep her and her fucking lackeys heads down." The entire idea behind Heiko's plan was just to keep Serpenta from acting again by suppression. If she was to focused on not trying to get hit she and her minions would have a harder time carrying out what ever the hell their plan was, and if Heiko got a good shot at her that would be a plus.
Breaking off from Professor Levesque the young man pushed forward some. It would be pointless if his diversion just brought more issues down on them. Getting in to a position Heiko threw both his arms downward. As his arms flew back three bolts slid down into place on each arm. Rapidly swinging his let arm upward and across his body Heiko launched the first volley of three bolts skyward. Bringing down his arm to "load" another volley his right arm followed the same motion but launched the bolts sending them at a different trajectory. Hopefully this would create the opening that they all needed.

Tsubaki’s eyes widened up, hearing the pride in the woman’s mind. She snapped back and brought a hand up to her ear piece. ”It seems like she wanted to do this!” She yelled out, very unaware that she was doing that. But that’s weird, why was she doing this. Obviously it was for nothing, but the reason was still hidden behind walls that are harder to get through. Tsubaki would need to get her distracted once more, but she felt so useless. Her brown eyes looked around at the scene, everything messed up, civilians running around, and these mutants running amuck.
”And if you’re wondering for a reason. I don’t know.” She sighed out. ”But it was for nothing.” She replied, her arm went limp to her side. What was there that she could do? How the heck did her mother even have the ability to this kind of job? And at the thought, of course her mother was both a telepath and telekinetic, sadly she was only one side of the coin, her twin being the other; she ended up with the useless power that she thought was so great. Tusbaki balled her fist taking one to wipe her eyes, feeling them stinging.
No she won’t be useless. She bent down and picked back up the flute she had moments ago and ran towards the crowd of people that were now in a frenzy all of their voices were like a large sea in her mind, very untamable. With her free hand, she rubbed her head, repeating that she needed to ignore it, all those voice of being scared. But her sight was now on target that was what she needed to focus on: Serpenta.
The closer she got the higher she lifted up her crude weapon and once deemed close enough she released her choice of weapon letting it fly towards the flying woman, ignoring the fact that, a certain someone else had a plan for Serpenta himself.

As it reared its enormous head in her direction, Wilhelmina sighed. Just like the monkeys earlier, her situation had been one shit storm after another. The depthless mouth opened as it slithered across the New York avenue. Goop dripped down its side as Wilhelmina had less than a minute to counter act anything that the snake would do. Running was her first option, as it was the easiest to dart in between floats (as long as there were enough of them).
Jumping off the float she was on float flawlessly (except a small trip afterward, Wilhelmina need not worry about a broken leg. Blowing hair out of her face, the snake was still coming towards her. Her hand gripped on the dart blower as she started her descent away from the snake. Cherry seeds were still her friend. Grape would do nothing right now, for the creature was simply too. Her eyes glanced to the left before scanning the left side. There were still people. Apple seeds would work well to slow it down, but it would cause too much injury. And that was what school taught them not to so.
Sticky seeds molding into her hand, Wil needed slightly more distance between her and the snake. And her vantage point... Climbing a float again was going to be hell but a necessary action. Blond hair flowing behind her, it was easy to ignore the monkeys to the side of her. Others could deal with them. A monkey stopped in front, yet moved quickly as the snake stayed on the young female's tail.
“Fucking shit, mother humper fucker!” Wilhelmina shouted before almost knocking into the... “Ahh!” A float covered in metal structures and stairs with streamers flowing down from it. Was this the center float that was supposed to be the show stopper? It looked like a mess and not to shiny. Wow, this city with the budgets it had could produce really crappy floats. Fuck it, all she needed was the stairs.
She found a ladder to get up. As the snake drew closer, her tiny hands and legs grappled up higher as fast as she could. Breathing heavily, she climbed the stairs and readied her blow dart with a cherry seed. One deep breath and an aim at the snake. You better hit where I want you to. Letting it fly, it hit one of the eyes. “Yes!” Another seed out of her satchel.... BAM! A swift turn of her head and her problem of that damn monkey from before appeared. “I am not dealing with this shit again.”
Shoving the blow dart between her breasts, Wilhelmina formed a fighting punch. “Monkey, get the fuck out of my way! Double Oh Seven does not have time for your shitty ass.” Well, considering it was flying and she wasn't, there was a bit of a problem. And another one, in similar size, lifted itself up next to it. Medium-sized chimps, maybe ones that were up to her knee.
“Okay you little fuckers...” She grinned. Standing on the side ledge, she thrust her body towards the two monkeys, yanking them down with her by their tails. Little things were not getting away. And one great thing about abandoned floats is that there was a ton of material around. Oh, this was going to be wonderful. Both monkeys tried biting at her as Wilhelmina looked around the float until she found rope.
She chuckled. “Listen you little things, you are going to fly. And if you don't I'll crush you.” The snake was too close and she had one chance to do this. Two monkeys in one hand, rope in the other, she got a monkey down on the ground, it underneath her foot. She did the same with the other. Wrapping the rope around one foot with a monkey belly down. The monkeys were furious, but the freshman had the upper hand. The rope became taut once she put enough distance so she would not be doing the splits in mid air.
“There, I am ready!” Confident in her work, she walked with squeaky monkeys underneath her. “Shush.” They shut up. Damn straight, she was the one in control. Peaking around the float, the snake was still looking for her. And behind she could still see the red of the hair of professor she helped. Maybe getting to him would be the best idea. “Listen to me you little shits and I might let you live after this.” Tugging at the rope, Wilhelmina whistled, trying to get the snake's attention. Hungrily, it found her.
“Okay, little monkeys, time to get lucky.” Eyes on the side, she jumped off the side and crouched down. The little monkeys zipped past the snout of the snake, which was lucky for her. But not having compete control of these things was going to be the death of her. As long as she could get back to that professor, maybe they would have a shot at this thing.
Crap, she did not know how to control these things at all. Least they weren't biting her. “Well, if one thing is going right, I'm flying in the correct direction.” Red got closer, but it just did not feel quick enough.

While she examined the awkward angle of her wrist, she failed to notice a certain snake woman swoop down from above. Only when the familiar snap of bone reached her ears did she glance up and finally catch the last moments of that scene. Alarmed, she slid over to grab a discarded flute from the curb and hurled it toward Serpenta, just as she was about to take off.
But instead of smashing into the blonde menace, the lower end of it clocked the top of Zeph’s forehead instead. Taking aim might’ve been a good idea. If only she had considered that a bit sooner. She hastily wheeled over to his side to pick up the fallen woodwind instrument, wearing a sheepish smile all the while. “Um, for the record, that wasn’t meant for you.” Talk about bad luck, but accidents happen, right?
The flute was back in her possession, and Eva wasted no time heating the metal with her hands. As soon as it reached a scorching temperature, she skated toward the guy with the hat and the shadow bullets. “Hey, do you think you can launch this thing at the bitch in the sky? Thanks,” were her first words to him. She gently placed the flute on the pavement in front of Heiko. “Careful, it’s hot.”
Whether the kid had the energy to do it or not, she turned heel and found herself beside the deflated balloon, the one that was currently floating above the street thanks to a redheaded professor. Eva trailed along the edge of it until she found a section that she could actually reach (short people problems). Using her good hand to stabilize the plastic and heating up her not-as-good one, she burned off a generous portion of the balloon. “I’m borrowing this,” she called out to Rosie.
Folding and tying together the sheet of plastic, she headed back to the wounded blonde. She tossed her makeshift contraption in front of him. “A sling for, you know,” she explained, her eyes focused anywhere but on the awkwardly bent arm. “If you decided you needed one.”

| TIME TO PARTY!!! He needed to do something. Fast.
But what though? It was only a matter before this venomous creature would make an afternoon snack out of the red-headed metal-bender. This was NOT how the twenty-seven-year-old Long Island native had envisioned his life ending. Inside the digestive system of the over-sized monstrosity that was the yellow-hued viper. "What to do..." the young professor thought aloud. There wasn't much time to think though. There had to be something he could do. If were to put this off any longer, there was no doubt that he'd be swallowed whole by this gargantuan serpent in no time at all. If only there was some other way, a way to take back the initiative. There just had to be something! Anything at all! Please, God! Give this man a sign!
That moment, as if that prayer had been answered, in came some much needed backup. The ginormous beast had been distracted by what appeared to be a young blonde girl. "God bless your soul, sweetheart!" he praised, with a fist pump high in the air, as the slithery monster began to pursue the girl. Finally! A sign! This would surely give the young professor some ample time to devise a new strategy. But now, it was that blonde beauty who was now in the brink of disaster, or it seemed. In the feeble mind of Myles Jay Crawford, it was only fair to at least try and return the favor. But how? Still, the metalhead needed to think of something.
A life-sized monkey made a move to assault him from the rear, but not to much avail. Myles flipped the primate over his shoulder and punted the damn thing several feet away, all the while it shot out a screeching yelp of pain. And yet another monkey would dare to strike him, attempting to flank him, but a roundhouse kick to the temple was enough to knock the wild animal out cold. Scouting the area in search of an alternative method to his own madness, wild deep breaths passing through mildly chapped lips and a nose leaking of blood, the metal-bending wizard paced to and fro.
Then he remembered. He expecially took note of all the damaged floats in the immediate area. There had to be at least valuable metal scraps to use out of those piles of newly fresh junk. The man ran over to one of the broken down floats and forcefully pulled a rod out from that particular pile. When standing, the rod was nearly as tall as his own stature. And now by utilizing his self-taught abilities, he made the metal pipe malleable enough to split it in half. He then molded both halves of rod into dual blades of firmly refined steel. Two more aerial primates went on the offensive targeting the redhead, only to meet a swift and crafty fate at his cold steel hands.
What now, he would ponder? Perhaps he should try and help evacuate the helpless citizens? Unfortunately for the redheaded phenom, that wasn't an option. His current task of fending off that snake-charming psychopath up in the air was not yet complete. He wanted to help his fellow professors and darling students, but he was much too occupied on this serpent to do so. It was the only thing standing in the way between him and his apparent objective. Well, one thing's for sure, and it was that he would not rest until he knew for a fact that his colleagues as well as these innocent bystanders (or most of them at the very least) were safe and sound.
From a distance, he spotted the young blonde female once again. Only this time...was she...flying!? Holy fucking shit! She was! That is to say, with the help of some of those damn monkeys. Impressive indeed. And of course, the snake was right on the girl's tail. This had given him an idea! Myles began to mold the steel-crafted dual blades together, forming a spear approximately five feet in length. With that in hand, the bold and restless hero charged forward, towards the oncoming young female. "Quick! Out of the way, lass!" he announced before ultimately lunging the freshly crafted spear at the vigorous viper. Should this work (and by God he damn sure hoped it did), it could buy them time - something they didn't have much left of. |

This was an absolute mess. Everyone was all over the place and more concerned with working solo than as a unit. The offensive team were basically chickens with their heads missing, and the defensive team was hardly giving a second thought to the civilian populace still trapped within Serpenta's grasp.
Once everyone got back to campus, the professors were gonna have to hold a workshop on the importance of teamwork and following orders.
Ezra's head snapped in the direction of the cracking sound just in time to watch Zephyr slump to the ground, his arm disfigured. He winced, feeling a pang of guiltiness in his chest. He could have stood closer to him, perhaps saved him from the surprise attack. Still, a broken arm was not the worst of battle injuries.
He wanted to rush to Zephyr's side, to remove him from the street and get him somewhere safe, somewhere he could wait out the rest of all this. Somehow Ezra could sense that the student wouldn't want that though, so he held tight to the large net and cleared his throat.
"Mr. Fear!" he called out, sounding as pleasant and gentle as ever, "we can do this, just focus." Perhaps Zephyr didn't even need the words of encouragement, but Ezra hoped that somehow it would calm him and remind him that not all was lost.
Looking up to the sky, he could see the figures of civilians being carried off by the mutant monkeys. Furrowing his eyebrows, Ezra tightened his grip on the net, waiting for Zephyr's bees to sting the creatures and hopefully drop the people.

| He felt his body, limp from the fall, lift as Serpenta grabbed his cloak and pull him up. "I remember you" she hissed to his ear.
And then she was gone, leaving a shell-shocked Orrin to stumble as he regained his footing. His body stung and moaned from the impact, his mind stuck on what Serpenta had said. She...remembered him? He knew of Serpenta sure but the two had never fought, at least as far as he was aware.
around him the fight bustled, bringing the man back to his senses. It was just a diversionary tactic, had to be. And he had fallen for it. He had let the woman get away and in consequence, yet another teammate had gotten hurt. He wanted to chase after her, finish what was started, but with her in the air, she was for now out of his personal reach. He was smart enough to realize this.
Her snake however, was only a dozen or so feet away, chasing after Bokhoven. The girl had cleverly hitched some of the monkey's up for a ride and was leading the thing towards Crawford.
Ignoring his aching body, he charged as the spear was thrown, whether it hit or not, it would probably take more to subdue the thing. He could supply more. As he approached, the man reached for the neck of the snake hoping to push it down to the ground. "Clear the area!" he called, as he began to expel his paralytic gas, a small dosage at first to give enough time for evacuation, but growing in potency by the second. |

Chaos surrounds the boy, but with so much going on, he's not sure where to turn his head next. If he could he would help everyone, but he doesn't know what to do. The most he could do was try and guide people to a safer location, but even that felt equally as useless as doing nothing. With so much going on, he just can't bring himself to head in a direction and do whatever it is he can do to help. In one direction there's the deflating blimps with people still struggling to escape from. Another is a crowd of vicious creatures wreaking havoc and not far from there his classmates and teachers fighting it out and ricking themselves greatly.
It puts Eli to shame see those people bravely fight and even severely wounded. Especially earlier in the panic, he himself thought of running away. In the few seconds which his eyes deviates from the behemoth, he witnesses a strange woman out of nowhere approach Zephyr from the hot mess and snap his arm back like a twig. The sight of it causes him to cringe, knowing the pain all too well. The guilt of his lack of action drowns him further yet still hesitating.
He plummets into thoughts while the creature, which he stared at so intensively, has brought its attention to Eli. It charges abruptly with a numbing battle cry, causing the boy to notice the danger he's in. With a struck of luck and the outburst of instinct to fight, the boy takes to the ground.
With his small size and frame, it's easy for the monster to fly by him. His arm starts to bubble up uncontrollably from the excitement, forming a new forearm over it. His hand, now consumed with the flesh, is nearly triple in size. Though with it being deformed and difficult to maneuver, the hand moves on its own, snagging the beast in attempt to trip it up or pull it to the ground.
Eli doesn't realize his actions till after the fact as his body is being pulled by the monster. His hairs stand up and he senses a bit of regret, but now that it's done, going forward is about the only thing you can do.

there were more monkeys than vegases that existed in the natural world; heroes of justice were but a finite resource compared to mutant primates. honoured civilians of new york were still in disarray and the efforts of any team were rolling thing now he'd tried to keep his eye on professor knightly where he could see him it didn't seem the entanglement between those two lasted long. while serpent once had been grounded she had once again moved, back to the sky and the evidence of her actions were transmitted across bluetooth for all members of the offensive and defensive teams to hear.
it was both an immensely sympathetic and immensely guilty wince from julio, even if he was busying himself with trying to pull a monkey off his shin. that was also painful but could it compare to the pain of the tragic injury of a valued companion!? vegas had little time to consider it, really, for the monkey's movements were still a big, overshadowing question mark in vegas' own path.
especially as, with tsubaki's reply at long last, it left little to go on. she was a sacred maiden faultless in her noble quest; a noble hero such as vegas could not fault her when her endearing mental attack fell through. it spoke nothing of explaining the migration patterns of the mutant monkeys who had managed to get away with civilians and were circling in the sky. he was still trying to wrestle himself from those he'd encountered, thoughts repeating what tsubaki had uttered. there was little to get out of it, but maybe a thanks was in order?
looking over, though, his thoughts were distracted by the the snake which in itself distracted by wil's righteous efforts which had turned to extremely righteous efforts. she'd not only procured herself away from the snake but she's procured herself two steeds - if improvised steed and, really, what could be better? they held her weight for the same reasons he assumed why they could carry away so many innocent civilians, their strength was proportional to the purity of their captives! or, y'know, enhanced strength
her moving flight was inspirational at least in terms of how to use the monkeys. vegas had little way of accessing the air otherwise as on the once crowded street there was little in the use of projectiles. vegas just have hold in the immortal powers that be that any potential spca-donating souls had their eyes on noble wilhelmina's daring but vaguely animal rights abusing stunt so he could use the monkeys with momentum. throwing the monkeys, at that rate vegas had very little other option. if they were lucky, serpenta's snake would be out for count with professor orrin's help. at least the assault on the snake left one companion finally free.
tsubaki had already begun to swarm back in the people, particularly those who vegas assumed were highly resistant to leave not only out of suspicion but out of worry for those still held captive. tsubaki was quick to launch her own offensive and vegas joined her in the crowd but not after launching a monkey at serpent herself. julio was sure he'd got the discus technique right enough - feet apart shoulder width apart and a swing that made his fatiguing muscles ache. and with tsubaki aside him it was the biggest relief he could have at that point, separated from the others amongst all the panic. or at least it was nice to pose to something with vegas was very sure was sentient as opposed to running on direct orders from an evil villain.
“tsubaki!” he gladly welcomed the sound of his booming voice again. he didn't know her mood on hearing that but vegas was greatly reassured by it, “good work!” sure, it seemed bad, but vegas was determined to assure her, and himself, that this wasn't all for naught, especially when he was there now to shield her if anything went awry.
