Does the site have a particular stand on spirit-themed powers? Like clairvoyance but through the spirits rather than the mind. I'm aiming for a shaman-inspired character (specifically of the priestess or the babaylan in Filipino, prehistoric culture), someone who would act more as a medium and gain powers from that. I'm not sure if it's borderline "divine" or what.

thanks for the question! shamanism is considered a divine power and is banned on ka-bam - similarly, it is listed under divine on the power listing wikia. this is as the existence of spirits outside ghost physiology assumes too much about the religious and spiritual nature of kb!'s world among other things. if you want to do a babaylan (also did you mean precolonial?) they will not be able to gain their clairvoyance from spirits or be in contact with them as a power. if you would like to discuss this further please pm me, PIDGE, and we can hammer out some details.

Yeah. Babaylans still exist today though in a lesser, more spiritual form, so I didn't want to flat-out specify precolonial. Though for sure they've longed lost already their political status in modern society since the Spanish colonization.
Hmm, not being able to go with that theme changes a lot. Does it work the same with magical items? I had assumed that devices like that run the same way as gadget-based powers would but they're technically spirit-based too. The other I had in mind was the anting-anting, which is pretty much a magical item of some sort. Every item gives out specific magical abilities but I might go with something of the popular culture like an anting-anting that gives you superhuman strength and the like.
And while I'm at it, healing is divine but restricted though? Assuming I have the prerequisites for that kind of power, would a theme of faith healing be too controversial?
Yeah I just wanted to do something Filipino-themed-related so that's all I really have to ask. I-I'm too scared to talk with you in your office :C

hey! sorry for interjecting. i think pidge would agree with me that the idea of a character possessng an anting-anting is similar to having powers related to spiritual or religious concepts. having a character utilize an anting-anting assumes too much about the spiritual nature of the world ka-bam takes place on. unfortunately, i disagree that gadget-based powers are similar, as a gadget is a technological advancement! in addition, healing is indeed a divine power, after all it is listed under the divine power section in this thread! we acknowledge it is a divine power, and we allow the three divine powers listed in the aforementioned thread on ka-bam, while all others are banned. as far as the faith healing goes, that is also a power that relies on some sort of deity as a source. once again, i'm going to have to say that is not allowed. if i may make a suggestion, your character could have the power of healing and believe that she is granted it by some sort of deity through her own religious background, but would not actually come from that source. we have a thread here outlining the ways characters are allowed to have powers. unfortunately, deities are not included. if you have any more questions, please PM any of the staff members! we would love to brainstorm with you.
