- No one can deny that Eva without her smile is a dawn without birdsong. Tragedies and mishaps have no effect on this cheery young lady, and life, despite its best efforts, cannot drag her down into despair. That being said, one may discover after years of acquaintanceship that this positive aura derives not from optimism, but from stinging apathy. In short, she simply does not care whatever happens to her or to those around her. One could easily point fingers and call her heartless, but she’d rather consider herself an easygoing and tolerant individual who neither criticizes nor frets.
From this, most assume her to be a rather introverted and reserved being, but that is most definitely not the case. She is as sociable as any other student, if not more so, and not unlike her peers, she has proven to be a bit lazy regarding her studies. Though she claims nothing in this world holds meaning to her, there is something that she treasures above everything else: thrills. Yes, Eva is an adrenaline junkie, and a notorious one at that. As a broke college student, she can’t afford to go bungee jumping or mountain biking, but alternatives include trampoline diving and rocket skating.
A less moralistic aspect to be introduced is her kleptomania, which developed as a corollary to her thrill-seeking. At first, she targeted street vendors, but soon realized they didn’t give much of a chase. Thus, she moved into the underground realm, nabbing drugs and smuggled goods for the sake having gangsters at her heels. Though a majority of the time she lacks foresight, one cannot help but smile at the sight of her antics.
An additional bit of trivia is her obsession with rollerblading. In spite of their numerous impracticalities and fashion violations, her rollerblades are always worn whenever she ventures into the outside world. Not to mention, she’s always spotted with a helmet atop her head. Safety first.

- Con artists aren’t necessarily evil people, only misguided. That’s how Evanthe justified her parents’ scams. Born and raised in a small city out in the Midwest, she became a valuable asset to their conniving schemes after her abilities came to light. The three of them shamelessly swindled people of their money and hospitality by putting the daughter in seemingly dire situations and threatening to sue everyone in the vicinity.
Despite their illegal activities, they were a loving family. Eva never partook unwillingly, as her acting skills were needed to fool the targets into sympathizing with her. Her parents often took her to playgrounds and ice cream shops, and when she grew older, they allowed her to help devise the next scam. Unfortunately, the family was separated when her parents were caught and thrown behind bars. The only reason Eva wasn’t included was because her parents argued they had coerced her into participation. With that, she trudged through the education system and applied to VU, not to become a hero, but to master her powers to the point of being able to break her parents out of prison.

- PRIMARY POWER: Thermal Manipulation. By focusing on certain parts of the body, she is able to apply heat to that portion and change the temperature of that area. The highest temperature she can achieve is 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, hotter than a candle fire, cooler than a blowtorch flame, enough to melt gold, but not iron. However, the maximum temperature she can wield depends on the area on which the heat is applied. In other words, only her fingertip can reach 2,000 degrees, while her entire body can only reach 300. Still, that’s more than enough to give someone a nasty burn.
Evanthe is limited to increasing temperatures only. Therefore, if she wanted to wield lower temperatures, she could not simply decrease the amount of heat; she would have to deactivate the ability and increase the temperature to the desired measurement. Doing so requires time to stabilize her body temperatures between each use, and it was determined that a minute of cool down was needed after each increase 100 degrees Fahrenheit. - SECONDARY POWER: Enhanced Balance. Eva isn’t much of a pushover, literally and figuratively. Her center of gravity lowers, and she is able to stand on precarious surfaces with ease. In short, she could tightrope across the Atlantic without breaking a sweat. However, she must make a conscious effort to activate this ability, or else the effects are lost. Maintaining the enhanced balance requires utmost focus, meaning it’s difficult to lower the center of gravity under stress or on short notice.
