Heiko was sitting on the banks of the man made lake right out side of Liu Collage. Due to the nature of his power this was where he was attending so this lake was one of the many spots Heiko preferred to hang around when he had nothing to do. Thankfully he could practice his power here with out having to deal with all the awkward sideways glances from every passer by. Although he couldn't really hold it against anyone to be entirely honest. After all shadows were not supposed to do what he was able to make them do. Didn't help that he typically conjured them in a more menacing appearance but at least here almost all the students were adept in some kind of manipulation so that was a plus.
Folding his legs together Heiko took a nice deep breath in and focused his body's energy in to drawing the shadows around him in. The parts he was able to tap in to starting swirling around his hand in a figure eight pattern. While Heiko was in tune with his power he lacked the raw physical energy required to maintain a lot of the higher level manipulation techniques he knew. The reverse could be said as well. If he tried to do too much smaller scale manipulation he could easily loose focus or tire him self out, which ever one came first.
Shifting his eyes down to his hands Heiko eyed the swirling darkness debating on what he should practice. He didn't have any target dummies so doing the bolts wouldn't be a good idea, since no one appreciated random holes in trees especially the squirrels. With practicing his main offensive measure out of the question Heiko shifted to the next best thing. Multiple manipulation. A quick gesture with his hand a small ball formed in his left hand. His fingers collapsed around it firmly. Rotating his wrist so his palm was facing down he tossed the generated ball skyward. Bringing his left arm down he focused his mind on creating an extension of his arm. Shooting his arm upward to the limit it would permit a small tendon like line shot out from his upper forearm with a bony hand at its end with sharp talons. This extension of Heiko snatched the descending ball from the sky mimicking Heiko's movement with his hand. Returning the shadowy extension down it hovered the arm and slightly forward so the two wouldn't collide. With the ball still in the conjured hand he moved his arm to throw it again letting the shadow do all the work. Sending the ball skyward he released control of his conjured arm and rapidly drew focus to his other arm generating an identical arm on his opposite side. Intercepting the ball once again Heiko was satisfied that this was becoming far easier. Compared to a lot of other students Heiko was behind on his level of manipulation. This was due to his parents preaching the need for him to minimize the use of his powers. While he learned to use it in its basic sense early on he did not have the degree of skill he should of had. The method his parents used drew a bit of curiosity from Heiko. It wasn't like both is parents didn't have powers, sure they did not really use them but they had such a precise control over them they had to have used them at one point or another. Tossing the ball from his skyward conjured hand down to his left hand Heiko examined the black void in his hand. He knew there was more to them than what they were letting on. "Eh, what ever." He muttered to him self. He was here now and that was that.
Releasing control of he bounced the the ball of darkness in between his hands debating on what else he could do for practice.

NOTES Fun Fun Fun
| Unbeknown to the young man behind him stood a quiet observer who had found a resting spot camouflaged in the few scattered trees near the bank long before he made his trip to the lake. On the very top branch the young woman laid her back against the tree trunk, legs dangling down, and her bare feet gently swinging back and forth. Her bright pink hair was tangled with flowers and bits of dry leaves, as usual, Ava's sun tanned skin was slightly smeared in dirt.
It was usual for her to appear like this and even more usual for her to find comfort in the treetops or anywhere there happened to be plants. Her clothes were just baggy gray VU shirt and jeans. She crewed on double mint gum, eyes closed in till the sound of someone approaching caused her to slowly open them in curiosity. That's when she saw the stranger, and decided that she would take time to observe him.
Ava watched him becoming more intrigued by the minute as he did amazing tricks with dark masses of energy she assumed were shadows. There seemed to be shadows because as he gathered them part if hers joined in the mix. At first she was alarmed, but her feelings of excitement over this gift of his won out. After some time Ava felt a little guilty at watching the other student without his knowledge and decided it was time to make an appearance.
Mumbling a command, a branch reached down and tapped the young man in the shoulder twice. From up in the trees Ava gave a large grin and waved down at him. "Hello, would you mind doing that again," she grinned pointing to his hand. "I'm kinda envious you have to show ms how you do that."

There were times going through life that people often experience the feeling that they were being watched one way or another. Sometimes it was just a paranoia premonition or something off handed related. If Heiko was only paying attention to what was really going on around him rather than what was just right in front of him he probably would of noticed the pink haired girl that was watching him like a hawk from a near by tree. Alas Heiko was too focused on his own manipulation to even acknowledge the presence of others. He fiddled with the ball of shadows at his finger tips, spinning it around, rolling it off his fingers in to the other hand, as well as other things unaware that the girl moved her self off her perch.
Heiko tugged at the collar of his jacket, flattening it out and redoing its fold, when the girl announced her presence. "Hello, would you mind doing that again," She asked pointing to Heiko's hand that held the shadow ball. For a brief moment Heiko was taken by surprise by the sudden arrival, he was pretty sure he was the only one in the area at that moment. Although he was evidently wrong he looked up at the pink haired girl."I'm kinda envious you have to show me how you do that." She had a grin the entire time she asked Heiko to demonstrate his power.
Breaking his link between him and the ball, sending it back to its original place of existence in a vapor like smoke, he placed both his hands right above his knee and used his legs to bring him self back up to his feet. Centering him self with the girl. She was sporting a baggy grey VU top accompanied by some jeans. Nine out of ten she was a student her just like he was although he didn't quite recognize her. "Yeah sure." Heiko responded to the girl's request. He really had no reason not to show it to her again. After all she had obviously seen him up to now using his power so there really wasn't any harm that could of been done. Closing his eyes again he inhaled and exhaled slowly and did what he always did when he utilized his power. From the shadows of objects all around portions of their shadow began to converge on Heiko's body. The end result was exactly how it was last time as the accumulated shadows swirled around his hand. "Never understood the actual reason behind it." Heiko admitted turning his left palm upward. Closing his fingers in to his palm followed by a quick flick of his fingers outward and a thought a ball took shape in its wake. "But it works." Heiko said extending his hand towards the girl. "You can hold it if you want. It'll behave like a ball... mostly."

NOTES Ava will notice his hat sooner or later and then she shall unleash the plants
| Ava watched the boy carefully as he agreed to show her a few more tricks, she sat in the grass below taking a seat and watching him gather the shadows nearby to once again demonstrate the earlier trick she was eager to see happen again. In a instant, pure black masses joined together in his palm swirling there in an almost solid ball.
"The important thing is not to stop questioning, curiosity has it's own reason for existing," she spoke aloud still keeping her sharp green eyes on the ball mass in his had. "A man named Edmund Burke said that I believe." She had said the quote in answer to his earlier statement, but she found it more fun to let others figure out the meaning behind the sayings she enjoyed sharing, another one if her beloved quirks her mother liked to say. Picking up the ball he so kindly offered to her, she started to test it out tossing it into the air lightly, he was right it did sort of behave like a ball. It felt light though when Ava threw it she could feel the weight of it as it landed back into her opened palm.
"You know you shouldn't talk to girls falling out of trees then maybe I shouldn't talk to boys who can do things like this." She mumbled and a couple of branches appeared and took ahold of the ball throwing it back and forth from one branch to another. She was only joking of course, he gave Ava the feeling he didn't talk much, which reminded her of her sister. A didn't talk preferring to be alone or with close friends unlike Ava who happily talked to anyone when she add around her plants. "I don't think I've seen you around campus before shadow boy," she gives him a kind smile "I'm Ava, nice to meet you."

Quoting a man named Edmund Burke was something Heiko wasn't exactly expecting on his list of responses however, she was more than right in its use. It wasn't that Heiko didn't wonder how his powers really functioned down at the scientific level of things. After all it wasn't like the rest of the powers that other students had at Liu. While it was a collage for manipulation of elements shadows did not necessarily fall in to the usual category of classic elements such as fire, water, ect., so in a way it isolated Heiko from his peer group some what. While the rest of the students in his class were familiar at this point it still was a slight alienation when trying to seek a bit of mentorship or just someone to talk to just to help him understand his power.
The pink haired casually dressed girl took the solidified ball of shadows in to her hands and began to toss the object around getting a feel for it. As the ball of shadows landed in the palm of her upturned hand the girl promptly spoke"You know you shouldn't talk to girls falling out of trees then maybe I shouldn't talk to boys who can do things like this." Smirking slightly at the remark the girl made Heiko witnessed her mouth move but wasn't able to hear what she said. What happened next was a demonstration of the girl's power. The words she muttered under her breath conjured a few branches that took hold of the shadow ball and began tossing them back and forth. It would seem she had control over plant life If she didn't demonstrate her power Heiko would of joked backed with, "Eh, I never really was a smart child growing up." However that was side barred.
"I don't think I've seen you around campus before shadow boy," she said with a smile "I'm Ava, nice to meet you." With introductions finally coming to the table Heiko summoned a shadow arm that took off his hat as he bowed slightly. "Heiko. And the pleasure is mine." The arm returned his hat back to his head and Heiko straightened his back. Heiko was a fifty fifty split on being surprised that Ava didn't see him around. On one hand Vivi, Zeph, and his hat pretty much served as a clear beacon. On the other hand Heiko was pretty low key in terms of what he did. Sure he had friends but unlike a lot of other students Heiko didn't participate much in extracurricular activities that were related to the school. Brining a smirk on to his face he decided to bring the conversation back to her initial comment. "And to be fair my mother never really covered the subject of talking to girls that fall out of trees." Breaking his link with the conjured arm he went back to looking at the branches Ava summoned. "I'm just going to state the obvious but, you can control plant?"
