With an approaching exam focussing on 1960 American History and its association with super-powers, Hadley had claimed a table in a quieter corner of the library, a small collection of books laid untidily stacked on her right, ready to be flicked through like the one before her as she occasionally took notes. Her face wasn’t often seen within Berdy Tarrant Library. Not because Hadley didn’t take her time at Vireximus all that seriously. But because she tended to borrow whichever study material she needed before returning to her dorm room.
But Sanford Hall was no stranger to parties, and the walls of Room 401 were not soundproof. Ordinarily, Hadley would have responded by drawing up a getaway before grabbing a book and using her power of Dimensional Storage to disappear for a short while. But, unfortunately, history had never been a subject that she was all that good at, and she would need far more than just one book if she wanted to scrap by on a passing grade. The ‘no-more-and-no-less’ rule of her power could be a real pain in the ass, even for her.
Glitter-coated nails rubbed ruefully at her sore and tired eyes, Hadley paused in her studying, again. Her lips parting on a heavy sigh. Part exhaustion, part frustration. Why history was a part of her curriculum, made very little sense to the blonde. Blame her wanning concentration from an afternoon spent cracking the books, but she couldn’t imagine a scenario that involved her tracking down villains and cracking their skulls where a basic knowledge of legal history would prove vital.
It only had Hadley agreeing with her Mama – good-doers were awfully good at complicating things.

| I'M TRYING TO HIT THE MARK but i'm shooting with broken arrows | HADLEY MONROE MEH RING A DING THIS IS TSUBAKI | Tsubaki made her way up to the library; the sound of studying minds helped her motivate herself to study, as well. But walking through campus, one way for her to get her mind away from minds was music; some people would look at the small Asian American as they could hear the bass. Coming to college, she hasn’t really figured if she wanted to be a superhero or possibly just a professor. But then thinking about how her mother had gone through hoops to become a hero in Japan excited Tsubaki, the only thing that was holding her back was the control aspect of telepathy.
Of course, her control is a lot better than when she was younger and unexperienced. Yet all of this is behind Tsubaki’s mind, there is a test coming up for math. Maybe she should’ve joined the matheletics, but she’s happy with the clubs that she is currently in, both should provide her enough to go out and meet a lot of people. Pushing pass the doors of the library, she turned down her music ignoring the stares people had noticing the young freshman walking in. Here she let her mind wander out, sometimes meeting other telepathic, other times there were psychic shields up, and then there were just areas that Tsubaki was not allowed to enter, almost as if she was touching different brick walls.
Tsubaki then founded a table with another girl, she seemed more prepped up just like college people that Tsubaki would see on tv. Unlike Tsubaki that was more on the plain side, wearing jeans and a shirt with a light jacket on.
”Hello?” Tsubaki walked to the opposite side of the table, tightly gripping onto her bag. ”Can I sit here.” She pointed to the chair with a smile on her face. She felt the weight of both notes and people’s busy, whispers minds around but now she was narrowing her mind onto Hadley. Depending on the person, some could tell they were being spied on and put a wall up and others could not which make them an easy book. The latter came when an unexpected question was asked; the former was if she was concentrating the person.

Pushing back stirred up dated memories of her mama, more than just a little aware that they would do more harm than good whilst she was at Vireximus, Hadley reluctantly ceased her rueful torment on her eyes. Before she could render them red, puffy or bloodshot. Come on Hadley, she mentally coached herself. Just a little more and then we’ll call it a day.
Closing the volume before her, Hadley pushed it to the side before reaching for the book that lay on the top of her makeshift pile. Opening it at the first chapter, Hadley had tightened the messy ponytail that she had pulled her blonde hair back into, in order to prevent strands from falling across her face and disturbing her study, when a soft voice caught her attention. Bright blue eyes glanced up to see a petite girl of oriental origins standing across from her, gesturing at one of many chairs that sat unused at the table that Hadley had claimed. Hadley didn’t recognize her face, and her eager politeness betrayed her as a freshmen. Those who had been at Vireximus as long as Hadley had been, or longer still, tended to claim what was available, not wasting time in bothering to ask.
”Sure, hon. Go ahead,” Hadley’s glossed lips formed a polite smile, before she returned to her studying as soon as the more delicately-figured girl took her seat.
”Oh shoot!” she muttered, not five minutes later. The fluro-blue highlighter that she had been using to go over her notes, as a means to make the information stick in her mind more effectively, dried out and became unusable. Flipping over to a blank page in her notebook, Hadley grabbed a blue pen from her pencil-case and began to draw. Quickly, but precise. Within a couple of minutes, she had drawn what looked to be an exact 3D replica of her highlighter. Impressive within itself, Hadley took it a step further by placing her hand on the page.
And pulling the highlighter out of the page.
Alike the unuseable highlighter in every way but one. It worked, unlike the original, as Hadley used it to outline her notes. And then, once she had, the highlighter copy immediately curled into itself. Becoming a rolled-up crumbled ball of paper. Having served its usefulness.

| I'M TRYING TO HIT THE MARK but i'm shooting with broken arrows | HADLEY MONROE MEH TEE HEE | Tsubaki raised a brow, following along with Hadley’s most inner thoughts. Then a small smile tickled the young girls face as she heard the encouragement of the older student almost completing their work for the day. The smile grew as Hadley gestured out to take an unclaimed spot. Tsubaki let her book bag drop into one spot; she too took one herself and started to fish out for her own daily homework to complete. Once settled in, Tsubaki looked up at the uttered curse, her eyes then flickered to a pen that was grabbed out of a pencil-case that soon touched a new blank page.
What was going to do? Draw something out of thin air? And to Tsubaki’s surprise, after the item was drawn out, the highlighter was pulled out of thin air. Tsubaki’s lips flatten out with a slight twitch; so many different super powers were out there, boy was it a time to be alive! Once she blinked herself out of the thought, she looked to see notes perfectly highlighted and the tool going into a balled up paper form.
Tsubaki’s moth opened up slightly, letting everything settle in. “That was so cool!” Both her brows shot up, ever since getting to college, there’s been all sorts of new powers out there! Of course, her mother did tell her a lot about those that have been meet during the glory days of being a superhero, but it’s just not the same, at least not until one can see powers with their own eyes. Sadly, not many enjoyed her powers, unless private conversation was needed. Other than that, Tsubaki would be butted out of most information or have someone yell at her.
Sometimes, the young girl wondered what it would have been like to have other powers than telepathy. But there was no time for that! Mentally, she reached out to other girl. "See, this is mine!" She just grinned at the solo mental link up as her arms rested on top of the table, one atop of the other.

Hadley never gave using her power to accomplish even the most simple of things any thought. Her Daddy had raised her to never feel any sense of shame for being different to most people, that if she could use her power to help herself in any way, then that’s what she should do. After all, one of the benefits that the power that both she and her mother shared was how versatile Artistic Animation could be. So when the petite freshman gasped impressively, Hadley could only smile back.
Was it cool? To Hadley, her power was nothing to rave about. But, she guessed, nobody was ever truly impressed by their own abilities.
”Thanks,” Hadley replied, ready to shrug off the other’s appraisal and reluctantly return to her studying. But then a voice that wasn’t her own echoed in a friendly, carefree tone within what should have been the privacy of Hadley’s own mind. Those smiling lips opposite to the blonde not so much as trembling, never questioning her own actions.
A telepath. And every inch of Hadley pulled away with the other girl, repulsed and protesting.
Hadley’s hands clutched the sides of her head, as if that simple gesture would keep her thoughts secret and silent to the intruder inside of her mind. But, of course, that couldn’t be. Blue eyes glowered glacially in the freshman’s direction, Hadley sat as far back on her seat as she could without overturning both herself and her chair. ”What the hell is wron’ with you?” she demanded, the outrage that she felt ringing clear as she raised her voice to a decimal not tolerated in the library. ”Just who gave you permission to pry inside of my mind, huh?”
