The Engineer entered the library, it seemed empty, most of the students seemed to be at their classes. He was an imposing figure in his suit, the sleek black metal shined under the lights of the library and his visor remained a solid black. Anyone who knew him, knew that he never took off his suit and that his identity would remain hidden under all circumstances. It seemed odd for him to be there, the large metal construct seemed out of place next to the small dusty books lines neatly on the shelves. The Engineer was here looking for a very particular book, something that would help him shed light on others who shared his ability. He had a hunch that many famous engineers and innovators had his same ability, and maybe he could do some research to find out who they may have been. It was surprising how little noise he made while he was walking, it was almost as if he wasn't wearing a suit of metal. He found comfort in the silence of the library, it was relaxing, he was away from his students, his constant battle to do "good". He had known before the Eric incident that many super villain fights were staged, but he had ignored them and fought normal criminals and villains alike. His goal was too make the world a better place, not find himself an arch nemesis and cause citywide destruction. He finally found a book that peaked his interest, a book on famous engineers. He opened the book, his glistening metallic fingers tracing the page, it had been a long time since he'd opened a book. It was an awkward sight, seeing him in his suit of armor peering into the book. bai wu frowned, reaching out a slender hand to grab a book from one of the shelves before turning and placing it in a different shelf—the shelf where it belonged. stupid kids can't even put things away back where they got them.
a displeased noise escaped his mouth as he reached out to straighten up a particularly messy shelf, fingers trailing languidly over the spines of the books to make sure they were all in order. they were. mood lifting somewhat, he stepped out of the aisle, glancing around the library and pleased to notice that it was empty—all the students off in class. it was then that he noticed the visitor.
bristling, he stalked forward. "what do you think you're doing?" he asked, voice surprisingly monotone with how annoyed he felt. actually, everything about him was monotone—even the expression on his face. which, it's safe to say, didn't exist. @snitch // hope you don't mind me jumping in with the prettiest librarian *u*

He heard the approaching footsteps before he saw the figure. He could only assume that it was the librarian seeing as no students were present in the library at the moment. The Engineer was nothing if not observant. He felt the eyes gazing at him, he finished the sentence he was on before looking over. The Engineer turned his head to look at the new face, all the man would be able to see was the solid black visor, nothing under it. Not that i mattered, Konrad was expressionless under it. A small buzz interrupted the silence, Konrad had installed a com system in the suit, acting sort of like a voice mask it often emitted a low pitched buzzing, easily lost among the din of everyday life but not in the silent library. He was working on fixing it. Konrad felt like he would like this guy, the monotone expression reflected the emotions Konrad felt, annoyance at being interrupted. "I'm reading," he said with a tone of complete apathy. The com system almost made it sound like he was speaking through a rebreather. He turned back to his page and kept reading. the...whatever it was that was standing in his library looked at him and bai would never admit it, but he was a bit unnerved by the sleek black visor and the entire suit overall. he wasn't one for modern technology to begin with, but this was taking it to a whole other level.
this feeling was quickly replaced by anger at the other's reply. "i can see that," he said, crossing his arms. if his wings were out, they would've been shaking with suppressed anger.
"why are you wearing that... monstrosity in my library?" he asked, raising a brow. "all use of powers has been forbidden, including the use of things like that suit you're wearing." @snitch

On second thought maybe he wouldn't like him, he seemed a little bit overbearing on all these rules, as if he would set fire to the school or something as stupid, even though he could probably afford to fix it again. "This monstrosity costs more than your entire library." This time he didn't even turn to face him, calmly flipping the pages and tracing his finger along the words. It was a little humorous hearing about the lack of powers. "It's a special condition, Mr. Bai Wu, is it?" It had taken a little time but it had come to him that he'd seen his name somewhere, maybe on a faculty list. "I'm the Engineer, and the suit stays on." ((The armor))@ursaring2 |
