Carter opened the doors to the dorm building with little interruption. He was a little late to the party seeing as while walking through the building he could see most other students were already settled in. Classes officially started today but he didn't really have any Monday classes so he thought to delay this as long as possible after all he was now paying for everything himself. It wasn't that his parents did love him or anything they just thought this was stupid and refused to help pay for this until he broke and went for a real degree. It didn't take him long to find the room that was his... and someone else's of course. He had no idea who his roommate was. He wasn't one for social media so he didn't really try hard to learn about who he was rooming with. Why ruin the surprise?
It wasn't surprising seeing as there were very few people bustling around at this time. It was around noon after all so most were probably in class or at lunch so it was the perfect time to slip on campus with his few bags. With his key in hand he unlocked the door to his new room to see his roommates stuff already there. Well he didn't really have a choice on bed now being the second person to come. It was expected. Oh well. He quickly got to work unpacking. It didn't take him very long as he didn't really bring a lot... just the essentials; clothes, laptop, comics, Nintendo DS and stuff like that.
After all that unpacking was halfway done he decided he deserved a break. Then it was just him... his Nintendo DS... and the wonderful silence that encompassed game play. The small boy bounced down towards the newly made bed in his sneakers and with a small creak he sat down on the rather uncomfortable mattress. He'd get used to it... he'd have to. It was his for the foreseeable future after all. With a light huff he flipped the power switch to his DS. It was time for some Pokemon training! He just couldn't beat stupid Jasmine... her stupid Steelix was so annoying! His sister kept making fun of him because she'd already beaten the Champion and some of the Kanto gym leaders while Carter was stuck fighting that behemoth. He was so engrossed in his game that he didn't even hear the door open. Well this was going to be a fun time now wasn't it?

Danial was making his way back from the library. How was it this early in the semester and he already had this much work to do? It probably had a lot to do with the fact that he was taking twice as many credits as anyone else. Being the son of a supergenius was terrible. Tired from studying all morning and stressed about his academic situation, Danial just wanted to relax. He wasn't in the mood for any surprises or more stress from other people.
Walking into his dorm, Danial was dead-set for his bed. Technically, he had more studying to do, homework to finish, that kind of thing. He stopped in his tracks at the sounds of little beeps and taps from the other, previously unoccupied, bed. With a sigh, Danial turned and ran a hand over his close-cropped hair. New roommate, huh? He had almost been hoping he would have the place to himself. The boy offered his free hand to the stranger, "Danial." He wasn't interested in spending too much time on this interaction; Danial always had things to do.

Carter was not super quick on the uptake. It took him about 30 seconds to realize he was being talked to. Another 10 seconds for him to respond. "Oh sorry! I'm Carter," he said with a small wave of his left hand; the other hand still firmly gripping his gameboy. Well this was awkward... then again he didn't expect anything less. Every situation was awkward when he was in it. It was just a fundamental fact of life like gravity or that orange was a stupid color.
"So um... yeah... nice to meet you?" the young man stuttered. He was never super good at meeting strangers and this was probably not the best way to have met his roommate. It could have been worse though... he could have accidentally walked in on something... obscene. So far it was all going well enough. He held out his hand to shake the other male's after just staring at it for a bit. He really must seem like an idiot or insanely awkward. Well at least he hadn't put up any nerdy posters.
He had pretty much forgotten his gameboy in his other hand by this point. Carter just tilted his head and wondered if the boy was going to drop. He looked tired. Like wake the dead and I'll murder you tired. At least that was what Carter thought. He wasn't a doctor or anything but he was familiar enough with WebMD to know a few common symptoms. Not because he liked to self diagnose himself or anything. Okay maybe a bit. He just found that no matter what he had it was probably something or cancer. WebMD was just cool like that.

Danial was tired. Very tired. He couldn't even look at his bed for fear of passing out. All he could do was stand there, desperately waiting for the kid to shake his hand so he wouldn't fall asleep on his feet. Danial never did get much sleep, always too busy with school work. He had missed valedictorian by the slimmest margin in high school, and it killed him. Four years of staring at books and trying to memorize literally every word, but he couldn't get valedictorian. He father had been unimpressed. Very unimpressed.
Once Danial was finally released from the agony of waiting, he turned to his bed and nearby shelves already neatly filled with books. "...Riiight." He was too out of it to try and hold a conversation, yet the boy still knew he should continue studying.
Nope. Can't do it. Need sleep. Danial turned back around, already getting annoyed with the repetitive game music (he would much more tolerant if he were well rested, but this was not the case). "Are you... Gonna be here long?" Danial could probably sleep with the lights on and his roommate gaming, but he didn't want to. Carter was pretty sure his new roommate didn't like him. Maybe he just wasn't an... afternoon person seeing as it was the middle of the day. Maybe he was just stressed? Carter barely knew this kid so he couldn't say for sure what was going on but even he knew he wasn't getting a very welcoming or friendly vibe from the other male. No matter. The young man was nothing if not persistently nice to most who were mean to him. You trap more flies with honey or something.
"Did... did you want me to leave?" Carter questioned seeming a little sad at the implication. By now he had turned off the music to his gameboy as a courtesy to the other male. He didn't really know anyone on campus so he could always just look around. He hadn't finished unpacking either but that was probably out of the question with Danial here. It would be noisy and the boy looked super tired. Carter figured that was why he had asked but it still stung a bit. It was his room as well after all.
The green haired teen sneezed as he sat there. Allergy season was underway after all. He pretty much had forgotten that he had his gameboy on by this point. He was pretty much focused solely on the other man. If asked to leave he most definitely would. If told he didn't need to he more than likely would try to be as quiet as possible. He'd have to get to know his roommate eventually though. Hopefully when they were both well rested and not so... grumpy? There was probably a better word for it but Carter couldn't think of one. It would come to him later.

Yes. Danial did want his roommate to leave. But that wasn't the most courteous thing to do. He would be nice to the kid and try to get some sleep anyway. Classes tomorrow... Right? It got hard to keep track of the days sometimes. Danial should just assume there were and prepare accordingly. After some sleep. Yes, sleep first.
Danial fell onto his bed facefirst with a tired groan. It wasn't any sort of affront to Carter, just an expression of tiredness. "No, it's your room, too; don't leave if you don't want to." The words were muffled by mattress, but Carter should get the gist. Carter was pretty sure he should leave but he didn't really have anywhere to go. Plus Danial had said not to leave if he didn't want to. He really would rather not go out there alone and just be awkward by himself. Sure he could possible meet friends but he could also be stuck alone and get lost or something. He wasn't the best with directions so it was possible... unlikely but still possible. That was all the incentive he needed to stay put. He'd just be quiet. VERY VERY QUIET! He'd be like a little mouse without the squeaks and love of cheese. Cheese did sound good though.
"I'll just be really quiet then," he said out loud more to himself than his roommate. He turned his attention back to his game and tried to make as little noise as possible. The sound of clicking buttons every so often were pretty much the only sounds he made... well minus breathing of course. He did have to breath after all he wasn't a vampire or anything. He just hoped he was being good so his new roommate could sleep in peace. He really didn't need an enemy already after being here for maybe an hour tops. Especially not one he had to live with! That would just be unfortunate.

Regardless of how early it was in the semester, Danial was incredibly stressed. When he had been at home, there were certain expectations of him, so things had more or less like this over the summer. The constant stress of academic work combined with a new setting and little sleep did not make good things. In the past, there had been a few episodes where Danial had gotten nightmares. He didn't know what happened outside his head during them, of course, but when he woke up after these bad dreams, his room was always in disarray. It wasn't a common thing, but it happened enough to show a pattern.
When Danial started tossing and turning as a dream went south, the room he shared was affected, too. Things started acting against gravity and moving about. The shelved books by his bed were flung across the room, Carter's bed started shaking, the light switch flicked a couple times. Carter was being all peaceful when his roommate decided to be all freaky and crap. Okay well he didn't really decide it just kind of happened. First a few thing started to quietly move on their own. Nothing super dangerous... maybe a few small items that weren't that breakable. Then all hell broke loose. Now this was not what Carter was expecting. It was like that one horror movie with the blood prom thing. Carrie. Yes that one. Minus the dying. Hopefully minus the dying.
"What?" he said a little loudly to himself. Well this wasn't good. He ducked and weaved and got smacked with books. Any injury was superficial at best. At least his roommate wasn't a med student. Then he'd probably be unconscious because of the sheer weight of some of their books. That would really be sucky. The beds started rising and shaking... the lights flickering. This definitely wasn't going to be fun. Carter however didn't have the power to help. He was sure of that. Instinct kicked in.
In seconds he was outside his dorm room... pressed against the wall with the chaos raging inside. Who was he kidding? He wasn't fit to be a hero. He ran scared. He always ran scared... he was just some scared little boy with the power to run away. That's all he'd ever be. There was the sounds of things hitting other things within the dorm room. All else was sort of quiet. It was the middle of the day after all. Most people paid no mind to what was going on. Maybe he'd have to be brave. Just this once he could help. But could he do it? He wasn't sure himself. The kid would be alright in there though... wouldn't he?

The calamity only went on for another couple minutes before everything audibly clattered to the floor and went silent. Inside the room, Danial had been startled awake and was sitting up in bed cradling his arm now. Though he couldn't really remember the dream, the mess in his room confirmed he'd had a nightmare. Great. What a way to start off college. It seemed this was something that followed him from home--if only to cause more issues for him.
Wait... Where was Conner? Er--Cameron? Fantastic, Danial had forgotten his roommate's name. But where was he? Was he okay? Had he done this? Danial sighed and went to stand up only to feel his arm flare in pain. That must have been what had woken him up. Now not only was he alone and needed to clean his room, but he should make a trip to the medical center. Should. He would still rather clean up here and try studying again. Sleep was out of the question now. Danial tried standing again and just kind of looked at the scattered belongings for a minute before sighing and starting to pick stuff up. He could hear the ruckuses go on for another few minutes... just sitting in the hall with his arms cuddled around his knees. With a calm sigh he heard everything stop. It was a huge smack to the ground and he assumed everything had ended. Either the kid gained control of his powers or he was done with whatever freaky dream thing he was doing. Maybe a nightmare or something? He wasn't a dream-seer or a mind reader so he couldn't ever really be sure unless told. He waited a good... solid two or three minutes before he felt the gentle tug of his powers and found himself back on his bed. His bed was fairly untouched, a few stray books, papers and such under him and around him but nothing to major. The rest of the room was not in the best shape though.
What he saw was his roommate... who's name escaped him at the moment... cleaning of all things. I mean the place did need a good clean sweep especially now. With you know... the stuff everywhere. He looked around... none of the furniture seemed to be damaged beyond use... mostly just small dings and some things flipped around and out of place. It could have been worse... a lot worse. He had seen the x-men movies and read the comics... Jean Grey was a bamf. She'd probably have obliterated the room. She wasn't real though... this was.
"Do... you want some help?" he asked quietly, getting up from his sitting position. He wasn't sure at what point his roommate had noticed him... or if his speaking up just alerted the other body to his presence. He didn't really make noise when teleporting so if he was quiet enough he could usually be pretty sneaky. He liked to pretend he was a ninja at times. He blamed anime for that.
