Even though she went to a superhero school, Kaylee didn't necessarily feel like a hero. It was true that she had abilities, but what for? She couldn't even control her powers unless she was freaking out, and even then it wasn't always a sure thing. She had never been in a moment where she needed her powers to actually work, but what if that happened more often as she got older? If someone really needed her and she failed them...
Kaylee couldn't stomach the thought. It was Saturday and classes were only for weekdays, so the girl had come to the Hall of Heroes to see if she could inspire herself. No one was there and she let out a sigh of relief; she wasn't very good with crowds. Once inside she began her rounds, touching the statues of the older superheroes as she passed them by.
What would they think of her if they could speak? She honestly didn't want to know. They'd call her a fraud, a scam, anything but a true hero. But maybe this school could teach her how to become the one thing she always wanted to be...a hero. | @open |

Stupid freshmen assignments. Stupid freshman orientation class. It was such a waste of time. He had to waste his entire Sunday trekking to the stupid museum to write about some dead hero that he honestly didn't care about. Aries wasn't in a good mood about this. And if he was bad enough on a good day, on a bad day he was purely cantankerous.
Not wanting to bother with the nasty people on public transport, the teen made his way to the transport hub. He'd be at the museum in a jiffy so he could figure out who he was going to write about...or rather, who he would force someone else to write about for him. There had to be some nerd he could convince to write this dumb essay.
In a matter of minutes he was at the museum and Aries begrudgingly walked up the steps, ignoring people around him as he typed away on his phone's touch screen, complaining to a friend about how he'd rather be in his dorm in his pajamas playing video games. Thankfully the building was almost empty; he wouldn't have to deal with pushing through crowds or people getting in his way.
Rounding a corner to one of the long halls filled with statues, he didn't notice a girl that was standing by one as he brushed by, texting once more. Their shoulders bumped and he was thrown off a bit, and that didn't sit well with him. Coming back to his senses he looked over and saw the girl who was staring up at a statue of some dead guy.
"Watch where you're going," he seethed, even though it was completely his fault in the first place. "Don't get in people's way!"

As she locked eyes with the statue, something pushed her and her shoulder bumped hard into the stone before her. It hurt and she made a little squeak in response, and she only shied away from the male more when he yelled at her. Quickly she clutched her hands to her chest and braced for impact once again.
"I...I'm s-sorry..." she stuttered out, eyes shut tightly. When she was bullied back in her old hometown she just kept her eyes shut because she didn't want to see whatever was coming next, and it was more of a comfort thing than anything else. Like a caterpillar hiding in its cocoon instead of coming out to become a butterfly.
Her hands shook and her heart was beating so fast that she was afraid she might pass out, so she tried to back up. But in doing so she knocked her head on the statue behind her and she let out a yelp. "Ow!" Man, this really wasn't her day. | @aries |

He heard a meek voice stutter an apology when he bumped against the other person, and turned to see a girl cowering against a statue. He was about to say something again but she tried to back up, for some unknown reason, and hit her head on the statue once more and squeaked out in pain.
So maybe he felt a little bad. Not because he bumped into her — she shouldn't have been in his way, after all — but hitting your head on that statue had to hurt. It wasn't like he was going to do anything about it, though. Maybe she wouldn't have gotten hurt if she hadn't been standing in the middle of the damn hall.
"Stop looking like you're gonna burst into tears," he said. "It's not that big of a deal. You shouldn't stand in the middle of a hallway like a deer caught in headlights next time."
Subtlety? Tact? Those words weren't in Aries's vocabulary. The girl was obviously a bit hurt (both emotionally and physically) but it wasn't like he would acknowledge that. Not in a polite way, after all. He really didn't want her to cry, though, because crying girls wailed and sobbed and that was just....annoying.

It was honestly his fault and Kaylee was smart enough to know that. It was a pretty large hall and he could have easily moved out of her way, but she was too much of a wimp to state the obvious to him. She hated conflict and the last thing she wanted was to get into an argument she knew she was going to lose in the first place.
Tears had welled up in the corners of her eyes, but when he told her not to cry she nodded and blinked the waterworks away. He was sort of trying to be nice in his own special way, or so Kaylee thought, and she didn't want to annoy him more by crying like a child. "O...okay...I'm s-s-sorry..."
But man her shoulder was hurting. She placed her hand on said area and leaned her back against the statue, feeling her head pounding from the impact only moments ago. Hopefully the male would leave her alone so she could rest in peace. Because, even with him hanging around, she was getting more and more anxious as the time ticked on. | @aries |

"Stop apologizing," he nearly growled. This girl was getting on his nerves. Why was he still standing here, anyway? He should get going so he could get this stupid assignment done so he could go back to his dorm and relax. It wasn't like he wanted to spend all of his day at this godforsaken museum.
"Where even am I?" he muttered to himself, all but ignoring this girl now. Looking down at his paper he checked the instructions. Go to the Illustrious Wing. Taking a few steps back he looked at the sign above the archway to see which section of the museum he was in.
The Illustrious Wing.
Dammit. So he had been in the right place, which was a bit of a relief, but this sniveling girl was still here and she was holding herself and crying and whatever. This was going to be annoying. Vowing to ignore her, Aries steeled himself and looked back at his worksheet, trying to find the hero he was supposed to look at first...of course. The very statue that the girl was standing in front of.
Marching over to her, he let out a gruff sigh. "Can you get out of my way? I need to do some homework and you're kind of getting in the way of that."

He was a very angry person. Kaylee didn't like the aura he was putting off and the way he spoke to her was appalling! But then again, she had been with Lily for a while and he treated her much better than normal people...
Maybe Lily had given her strength? It was an odd feeling, but Kaylee knew this guy wasn't treating her with the respect she deserved and something struck a chord in her heart to make her do something she never thought she'd do. Ever. "Don't talk to me like that!" she yelled at the male, and then-
Whack. Right in the cheek she slapped him. It stung her own hand and she blinked, not even realizing what she'd done until it was too late. And then she gasped, pulling her hands to her mouth to cover it. There was a pause, but she was frozen to the spot. Had she really just done that?! | @aries |

At one moment, the seemingly quiet girl in front of him raised her voice to tell him off. Well, it certainly wouldn't be the first time someone yelled at him for being rude, but he didn't expect it out of her — especially after the crying and whining act she'd just been doing because she bumped into that statue.
And then before he could register what happened, his cheek was burning, his head was forced to the side and his brain was jarred a bit. He definitely wasn't expecting to be slapped. Again, it definitely wasn't the first time he'd been smacked across the face, but yet again he wasn't expecting it from this girl.
When his brain caught up with reality he turned his head, hand going up to rub the cheek that had been slapped a bit. That one bit a little bit, and his skin burned at the contact from his fingers. Damn. This one was probably going to leave a mark, too. That didn't make him happy, as if he was happy in the first place.
Looking back down at her, she looked about as surprised as he felt, though there was a hint of apology in her eyes that he did not mirror. He hadn't even said anything THAT bad. He could have been so much worse. And now that he was pissed, he wasn't going to be cordial anymore.
"What the fuck was that for?" he asked, eyebrows furrowing into a glare. While he might have looked rather intimidating, he wasn't going to do anything about it. He wasn't a psychopath, after all...just an angry person. There was a difference, you know.

Well, she was already on a roll, so why stop there? When he cursed at her she only fumed more, her hands moving down to her sides as they furled into fists. Her eyes closed as she yelled, even though they were literally inches apart in the moment.
"You bumped into me and then acted like it was my fault, when it was yours! You need to watch where you're going and stop acting like the world revolves around you!" Her cheeks were burning red but she didn't care! She was hurting...oh, but hadn't she just caused the male before her some pain too?
Without thinking she opened her eyes and placed one of her hands on his face, using the healing blue light to take away the pain she'd caused him with that slap. "Good day!" And she then turned around, stomping off down the hall so she didn't have to deal with him any longer. Kaylee hoped he wouldn't follow. | @aries |

Aries was a bit taken aback when the girl yelled at him. His eyes widened a little and he pulled back, listening as she shouted her piece. Did she think that was going to work? While Aries was self-conscious and only really cared about himself, it wasn't something that was necessarily self-imposed. Her words rolled off of him like water rolled off the back of a duck, but he was too shocked at her sudden actions that he didn't know what to say.
Still stunned she raised her hand again and he couldn't help but flinch. Was she really going to slap him again in the same exact spot she'd just hit? That was a low blow. Readying himself for another bout of pain he instead felt her hand rest on his cheek gently, and he peered to the side to see a faint blue light emanating from her hand...
...And like that, the pain was gone. His cheek felt normal, if not better than normal, and he just looked back down at her without saying anything. It was kind of confusing, to be honest. Well, he could deduce at the very least that this girl had healing powers but why would she heal him right after hitting him? Did this girl know anything about how to cause pain?
Before he could say anything (and he really had nothing to say) she shouted a parting sentiment at him and stormed off, going further into the museum with a huff. He watched for a moment with an eyebrow quirked as she left, thoroughly baffled by this encounter.
If she was expecting thanks, she was sorely mistaken.
FIN.
