Being blind made it nearly impossible to get around quickly. Sure Lark had her echolocation, but that only helped with large things that she could potentially bump into, it did nothing whatsoever for things that she could potentially trip over. To anybody who didn't know her, which was most people, Lark would look pretty insane. She was shuffling along the pathway constantly making a clicking noise with her tongue. Every so often she would expertly dodge out of the way before somebody going someplace ran into her, but other than those few times her progress was slow going.
Lark thought about trying to fly again. Last time had ended with her almost breaking her nose, but who could have seen that wall. Probably somebody who could actually see. With a sigh Lark started to speed up, and with her speed rose her worries. If she tripped over something small she'd look stupid, but if she kept moving so slowly she'd look like she was stupid as well. It was a lose lose situation, but at least when she moved faster it wasn't a guarantee that she would trip, just likely.
After a while of walking at this pace Lark smiled. So far so good. With her good fortune the green-haired girl decided that she needed some music, so she pulled out an iPod shuffle from her pocket, out in the earbuds, and then hit the play button. The songs were all slightly dated as she had no idea how to get songs onto it and the last time it had been updated was when she had been at her actual house, but music was music and Lark couldn't complain.
There was a large problem with her love for music though, it kind of blocked her ability to use echolocation, so she was in the dark while moving, and more so than usual. Listening to music also made it very easy for her to get lost. A blind girl walking around without being able to hear anything? Wonderful! But Lark knew the pathway she was taking and got to a certain bench that she enjoyed on campus quite easily.
Lark finally took out her earbuds. The fact that she had gotten there with an an accident was a miracle, but instead of dwelling on it Lark kicked her feet up and decided to have a little fun, that was what she had come there for after all. So as one student walked by Lark opened her mouth as if she was going to say something, but instead of words coming out the sound of buzzing, Lark swirled her finger and the buzzing circled whoever it was that had been previously walking. With a squeal that told Lark that the person was a female student they were off running.
Lark laughed and tilted her head back as if she was watching the clouds. She put on her music again and let everything else drown out. Today had been a good day so far and Lark hoped to keep it that way by not pushing her luck with the pranks. She hadn't tripped and she hadn't run into anything, she didn't need some professor yelling at her for freaking out a few people. It was only fake bees after all.

A pile of papers she wasn't sure she would ever get done in her lifetime. Mind you with an infinite lifetime that amounted to a large amount... exaggerated but still it was quite a bit for so early in the semester. Maybe she gave to much? That couldn't be it... the students much just be overachievers... or trying to spite her with huge papers. Well at least they were doing some work. They weren't wasting their lives entirely. That was always a good thing. Right?
She stopped for a five minute break after about the fifteen gagillionth paper. There was a bench near the building where she could sit outside and have a small snack. She sat her bag down next to the bench and ate a small apple. At least she had worn a light sundress and sandals today to match the weather. It was not super hot outside but it was warm enough that she was glad for her choice of wardrobe despite how cold it could get inside the building. It was quiet out... the young woman watching as a few people passed by on their walks across campus thus far. Some she recognized, some she didn't. She had gotten used to that.
She could feel a weight on the bench beside her as someone else had sat down... a young girl who looked to be a student here. Then again you could never tell these days... she technically looked like a student here as well after all. She just gave a simple hello and continued to bite at her fruit. She had given herself a half an hour time slotted for a break before the next class she was forced to teach. It wasn't that she didn't care about the students or thought what she was doing was pointless. It was just tiring and frustrating... especially realizing that she had several lifetimes of practice in control and many of these young people didn't (and would never) have that luxury.
There was a buzzing noise that was coming from the girl... some kind of sound power perhaps? She was part of the college of elements so she spent most of her time around kids who could shoot fire or lightning so it was still weird to see more powers in one place especially given how she had spent most of her life... alone. The green haired girl seemed to be doing something to another student. It didn't seem dangerous so she didn't feel the need to intervene. If nobody was getting injured or killed it was not her business. She was here to keep them alive and teach. Nothing more. They'd all end up dying before her anyway. They always did.
"I saw that," she said more to herself than to the girl sitting next to her. She had 20 minutes left to 'dawdle' before being drawn back to work. Sometimes she wondered why she came back to civilization. The thoughts quickly left her though as solitary life was not all it was cracked up to be. The blonde pushed her hair back behind her ears as she sat on the bench with the female.

When a voice from beside her interrupted Lark's music she nearly screamed. She hadn't even noticed the person on the bench with her. She scrambled up against the other edge of the bench to get away from the other person. Then she took out her ear buds in order to hear better. What had they said? Had they seen her little prank. They must have been there the whole time, because Lark hadn't noticed them sit down. So that meant they had indeed witnessed her prank. Well now she was either screwed or she'd get a good laugh out of somebody. Lark slowly settled down into her seat again.
"Didn't notice you there, at all really. I must be slipping. Anyways so you saw my completely harmless prank. You really shouldn't tell any of the professors. I really don't like getting in trouble. It sucks you know? Of course you know. Anyways that girl is probably fine. I only made it sound like there were bees around her. She just freaked out a little too much. She's fine." Lark finished her rambling with a smile. She probably sounded and looked a little insane, but she didn't care. She couldn't tell who they were or what gender they were considering how she hadn't properly heard their voice. If she had actually listened instead of using her headphones then maybe Lark would have realized that the person sitting beside her wasn't as young as they looked outwardly and were probably faculty of some sort.
Lark began picking at a thread at the edge of her shirt. She was trying to think of something else to say that would make her sound normal. Names. She had never said what her name was. "I'm Lark by the way." That was simple enough. Lark pulled her legs up on the bench with her and wrapped her arms around them. She really should have noticed the person sooner. It was a stupid thing to miss really. The way the air moved around them should have made it obvious, even with her music on to block out the sound of their breathing. Maybe her powers were getting weaker. That would be terrible. Now Lark had begun worrying again and she almost completely forgot about the person sitting beside her. She started picking at the loose threads in her shirt again. What if she completely lost all of her powers? Was that even possible? Multiple scenarios began playing in Lark's mind as she waited for the person to talk. TAGGED::: | NOTES::: lookie a template | WORDS::: 430 |

The girl had sound based powers so obviously she wouldn't have had a class with her. Well this was going to be fun. She didn't get to tease students very often. She had to be the authority figure her age allowed. She had to be knowledgable and strong. She was a girl encased in armor. Strong but she never showed herself truly. It was a coping mechanism perhaps. It didn't matter though. What mattered was this moment... right now.
"If it is so harmless then would it matter if a professor or two was told?"she added with a smirk on her face. Of course she didn't care to tell another professor and she of course had witnessed it herself being a teacher at this weird university. She was rather known for being lax on a majority of the rules on campus that didn't involve anything dangerous outside of her classroom. She held an iron fist in class but was notably lax elsewhere. Unless harm were to come to another she didn't see the point in intervening.
"Lark you say? I'm called Echo," she said with that small smirk still plastered on her face. Was that her real name? She didn't really remember anymore. A few hundred years tended to make one forget certain things especially when she was so used to being forced to change it in order to fit in with the times. Even what she wore now felt off. She missed the days when people were showing much less skin but then again that was her being an 'old lady' as certain students called it. Mostly those brats from the Fight Club. Mostly a certain boy in particular who shall not be named.
"Sound manipulation... correct?" she asked whilst she finished her snack, throwing it skillfully into the trash can a few feet away without getting up from the bench. She was a bit interested in all the collection of powers this school had. It was part of the reason she agreed to come here. In her life she had only met a handful of powered people before coming to this school. It still amazed her how many were collected in this one place. It was like an entirely different world... and somedays she started to believe it was.
She had 18 minutes left to 'dawdle' before being drawn back to work. Sometimes she wondered people did what they did. Why prank? She didn't think she'd ever truely understand the new generations that followed her. Sometimes she thought she'd be better off away from them... an old relic of an ancient past. The thoughts quickly left her though as solitary life was not all it was cracked up to be. The blonde pushed her hair back behind her ears as she sat on the bench with the female and waited for a response.

Lark snapped out of her worrying when the lady started talking, but it instantly began again. On one hand Lark couldn't get a read on how old they were and on the other hand it sounded as if the lady would tell a professor. For a second Lark wondered if the lady herself was a professor. The way she spoke made her sound older than her voice made her out to be. It confused the young blind girl and just worried her all the more.
"Well sometimes the teachers blow the small things way out of proportion, not all of them do, but there are a couple strict teachers. Wouldn't want them to get wind that I've been pulling pranks and they give me superhero detention or something. I don't really know what happens when people get in trouble here, I'm not usually caught." Lark laughed as if it was a joke, but her mind was still hung up on the idea that she might be losing her touch before she even really had it.
Lark listened to the rest of what the lady had to say. She was pretty keen on guessing powers. Lark nodded. "Yeah I manipulate sound and air. It's a pretty good for getting around. What about you? What do you do?" If she thought about it maybe she could have guessed, but Lark would rather Echo tell her than go through the trouble of guessing. The green haired girl pulled her legs up onto the bench with them. It was possible that they were kind of in the way, but Lark made sure not to touch the other lady on the bench with her. That might be considered rude. TAGGED::: | NOTES::: so lazy | WORDS::: idk |

Echo wasn't really sure what other teachers did for punishment. She usually forced people to grade tests for her. Of course essays and the like she was forced to do herself but multiple choice was something they could do and she wouldn't have to waste a lot of time doing it. Unfortunately physical and power tests were things she couldn't force another person to do. She had all the time in the world though... so these kinds of mundane things tended to bore her quite a lot. It did give her a small sense of purpose though which she enjoyed.
"I believe the punishment is up to the professor... mostly light community service type work I'm sure," she added quietly. She wasn't sure about most of the other professors but the ones she knew that was about it. The higher ups weren't fond of very 'creative' punishments. They tended to frown on anything that wasn't incredibly boring or mundane like they were. They needed a reality check.
"So you do this often then?" she said with no expression change... though with her current speaking mate being blind it didn't really matter. This kind of stoic expression was a common one on her face. She cared very little about quite a lot. It came from years of living alone and seeing those around you wither and die.
"Fire manipulation is probably what I use the most due to class," Echo commented. Being that she taught the beginning pyrotechnics she used this more often than her enhanced physical abilities that were even know restricted by the silver shackles around her wrists. During her time training the kids of Fight Club she never took them off to use her full power. Thankfully she had never needed to take them off because of a dangerous situation with her little Fight Club kids. Her strength was usually sufficient enough being dampened. During her class with the fire kids was the only time she had them off to be able to use the full extent of her fire powers for demonstrations.
