▼ The evenings were coming sooner, but that’s fall time for a person. Eve gathered up all of her paper work and secured them and walked back to her desk and sat for a moment, taking in a deep breath. This has been her life, but she couldn’t escape the past, it was like a long chain that always reminded one that it was still there and that there was nothing that could be done to reverse it. She rested her head on top of her desk, letting the silence kick in, only a handful of people left behind, or possibly no one and it made moments like these bitter sweet. It was nice that she was here but at the same time, maybe she should’ve done what her husband did and just went searching for their son.
Eve then lifted her head up and sighed. No, those were not healthy thoughts, especially one that helped others who thought like that. She lifted a fist up, taking in a deep breath and huffing it out. After that ritual, she stood up quickly and looked around the room; nothing was there for her to take home which meant a lighter bag she would carry. Moving away from her chair that she scooted in and the large desk, Eve located her messenger bag and slanged it around her chest, releasing her trapped hair and long, yellow scarf; she brought a smile on, just in case there was still anyone within the facilities.
Of course, fronts were part of her specialty, too bad it wasn’t her superpower, enigmatic air wasn’t hard to keep up. Yet, being a shifter was almost like have a façade, it was the animal that was more real than the skin but it was hidden. She hoped to have taught that to her son, not to fear or be mad at the beast. Now at the door, she flicked the lights off and walked into the dim hallway, shutting and locking her door, Eve now trekked for the front area to leave the building.
But she then stopped quickly and her eyes that were down now flickered up, her smile now down and her brows brought together. Eve looked around the area, her frown deepened. ”If you’re here, you can come out.” She stated, standing her ground.

ah, had he been loud?
wincing as eve called out in the hall, rene considered what options he had then. there wasn't nothing wrong with being on campus, even in the late hours. sure, it was the administration block, but as if the king had much of an interest in vireximus university's intricacies; he wasn't there to go snooping.
snooping seemed like it'd been far easier to explain than shirtlessness, though.
'cause when he shifted back to his human form, having flapped down from somewhere up above in the hallway, rene's top half was resolutely naked. he'd weighed the choice of staying as a bat but yankin' on on a bear shifter's chain was not on the top of list 'a' things he planned to do in his lifetime; not like he hadn't heard of the woman's stint as ursini.
he was just praying that ms. bjorn would accept long story as an adequate explanation and pay little attention to the half unbuckled belt.
“easy there, chére,” rene started casually, regarding her with a relaxed stance, “didn't mean to go 'n' make it look like i was hidin' from you or something.” come out? it made the king sound like some kind of common criminal. the other didn't look like she was exactly out to take on any wrongdoer in the first place – with the time and her locking her office he assumed that meant she'd be right on her way home, and he was altogether keen to emphasise that, “don't need to worry 'bout me here. just still a li'l rusty when being discreet.”
not like being a bat was built for subtly. scratching his bare chest, rene averted his eyes down the hallway, twisting his body slightly to look up and down and keep up the pretence that it wasn't weird to be shirtless in a university staff building, “on second thought, could you give me a hand darlin'?”

▼ Eve heard the gentle flap of wings, another shifter; she took a deep breath in and lightly let it go. She then turned to look at the person before her brows went down and knitted together, a half-naked man right in front of her; perfect was thought with all sarcasm. She then blinked once her eyes going down, collecting thoughts, before coming up back up as the man addressed her. A closed smile crossed her face before she shook her head, letting more thoughts cross by. Of course, one shape shifter to another, it wasn’t uncommon for one to be undressed, especially depending on the shape of the animal.
“Being discrete in an administration building? That is kind of suspicious.” She slowly made her way closer to the man as he asked for help. “So, what do you need help with?” Eve’s eyes adverted to side. She was still a married woman, her ring still on, showing the whole world that she had been taken. Of course, students loved to bug her with where her husband and child where located and she would give some excuse for them, somewhere else, not in the US or they were in another state.
And yet, a rare case like this would have popped its ugly head up. Her dark eyes then flickered back, staring blankly at the sight in front of her.

the immediately imposed modesty caught his attention quickly; any attention not lathered towards rene probably would be. while she pointed out that it hadn't been the wisest to assure of his discreet nature in the administration building he dismissed with a lazy hand wave, “come on, it would only be suspicious if i was something good at it.” and evidently he was not – rene thought the circular logic sufficed.
a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth at the continuous aversion of her eyes. feigning barely believable ignorance of her uncomfortable state rene shrugged, then stepped forward, approaching the faculty member with something like relief as well. he had wondered what would have happened if one of the other staff had been around. though another would likely be less fidgety than ms. bjorn unless rene had somehow stumbled on vireximus university's secret convent. certainly not the best place for a vampire.
“i'm looking for someone,” scratching the stubble on the side of his face he rested his eyes on eve, grinning fully when her eyes fully concentrated on him, “got business with a lady working accommodation that got interrupted a bit earlier.” rene chose that point to start doing up that half-unbuckled belt while he continued, “and this admin building ain't easy to navigate when you're a bat.” it seemed rene felt that a sufficient explanation, more interested in briefly eyeing that band around her ring finger.
once his attention had moved away from that his arm moved across his chest, hand resting on one shoulder, pressing against some ink of a tattoo that snuck over from his back, “mind givin' me a quick tour darlin'? would be a pleasure to have someone like yourself showing me the ropes around here.”
