there had been rumours of villainy on the streets of new york!!
admittedly, villainy in new york wasn't breaking news unless one was gonna include similarly revealing headlines such as “THE GRASS IS GREEN!!”, “THE SKY'S BLUE!!” or “VEGAS IS AN IMPECCABLE, FAULTLESS AGENT OF JUSTICE!!!”. and typically an impeccable, faultless agent of justice vegas would attend to villainy as a hero should - never to let the stench of evil go unextinguished! but in his short time at university vegas had not gone toe-to-toe with the evil forces that lurked in the depravities of new york for and for a good reason: vegas had vowed a sacred oath to abstain from his duties of fighting the forces of darkness. t'was not a promise sworn to lady fate, nor to justice itself, but to a mortal being whose importance transcended both of those.
forsooth, julio had pledged to his father that he wouldn't go “vigilante” when it wasn't university-related but that night was an exception as vegas could assure all, his noble quest was entirely university-related! on vireximus' campus there had be hallowed whispers from person to person of a threat ensuing in the depths of queens. a supernatural mugger whose roots had been cautioned to be from the university's student body! furthermore, in the occasions it didn't pray on the citizens of new york it specifically targeted all students that ventured near it. something worthy of investigation, no?
so investigate vegas did! even if the rumours had been somewhat lacking in information - the hero of justice's specific complaint? no-one had specified how cold it'd be. wrong night for a crop top even beneath the vireximus university varsity jacket but he couldn't even get that closed. it was borrowed, several sizes too small to the extent it was a wonder it had even fit around his wide shoulders, and with his midriff decisively exposed vegas was at the whim of the november eve.
perhaps vegas would find a coat sooner than the super powered mugger. and patrolling in suburban queens he for some time now it had felt that way. pausing for a small break, a rest against the wall of an alleyway, the student's eyes were on a map app on his phone as it also turned out patrolling for JUSTICE was somewhat challenging when one had little knowledge of the city he intended to save. vegas wouldn't phrase it lost. how could he be with his direct coordinates available to him with his phone? nay, it was more that the hero of justice had little idea of where exactly to go.
it wasn't long before vegas started reasoning this inexperience positively to himself; after all, was this not only university-related vigilantism but also practice for the truest vigilantism that awaited him! it almost made skirting around the promise he'd made to his dad in the november cold a little less guilt-inducing. almost.
@fate3 / okay i assume the rumour deal um some student possibly mugging/vandalising things in suburban queens possibly targeting other students um you can build on it too obvs 8))

As much as he has a dislike for supers, he despises those that attack their own. Theodore slithered around in the dark for a moment and then moved once more. It almost looked like a thick, black shadow made its way from one building shadow to another. Theodore then lay low, taking his smartphone out and turned on an app to listen onto a police scanner, waiting to hear on this villain that was willing to attack his own people. His Bluetooth picked up on the transaction from his phone and he shoved it back onto his pocket, letting the technology do the rest of its work in peace as he stood up once more and scanned the area. He’s been doing this for a few years now, but taking care of the more lowly scum than well-known names, he remembered the first and last time he would do that. A hand unconsciously reached for his side, rubbing his ribs that had taken a while to heal. The cold November made him slightly regret washing his hair, but he prefers if at least letting the hair be one of his well-known traits was for his wild, orange hair. Theodore brushed his only gloved hand through the damp hair before putting up the hood to protect it.
He would say it was his most prized position and the only thing that gave him his hero job. Without his gloved right hand, Theo might as well have been useless as an archer and a hero, better known as Knight. This November night prove to be chilly, but if he went with longer sleeves then shooting anything would’ve been an annoyance, plus who wouldn’t want to see these sweet muscles he has worked hard on? Yet, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was Knight. It had taken many trial and errors to find how to get the right suit and identity out. Now whispers went around once he started his last year of high school that an amateur hero was out and about, taking care of the smaller criminal base. Knight smiled to himself as he scanned the area, he had to keep on his toes, figuring out how to use a Bluetooth in one ear and to keep his other ear free. So, Knight’s current help was his eyes. He then stopped slightly; maybe his hand wasn’t his most important body part, but his eyes. He took his other ungloved hand and rubbed his chin. But if his father was here, Knight’s father opinion would be the brain was important; which Knight agreed to, but who wanted to stay in an office when adventure was already out here.
His Bluetooth static a little, which made the masked crusader raise a brow that would go unnoticed. He listened carefully to what the police were murmuring to each other, codes going left and right, each one saying where this super was going to attack next. Apparently Queens seemed to be the hot spot for the night. His boots treaded lightly but then stopped. Knight narrowed his eyes and noticed another person across the way. It wasn’t a face that was recognizable, now if the he was a she then he wouldn’t have minded that he didn’t know the face. Yet again with the threat of a super with an attacking devotion, it made Knight wonder why, there had to be a reason and Knight had to know this person. Luckily, his dark suit allowed him to wallow with his thoughts in the dark and remember what it was about the villainous super. If he thought back to when he visited the scene of the crimes, the students where clawed and most areas had small chunks of bones left over. This left him engrossed; these students were meant to beaten by Knight not by this mysterious person! But this still left him with a mind full of questions the main one being: who was it? Knight looked up at the person across the way as they started to mess around with their phone. Once more, Knight looked around the area once more. He guessed it couldn’t hurt to ask someone if they’ve seen anything. Knight then crossed the street to the side where the other person was relaxing. ”Excuse me, sir.” Knight said with a clearing of his throat. If this person did prove to be of a threat, Knight could quickly take his retractable bow that stayed on his side and have his weapon out ready at a blinks notice. This is if this person was quicker than him. But eyeing the larger man, Knight may have the advantage over him. JULIO VEGAS:: Bah, I hit a wall. But I think it would be cool to fight someone with bone manipulation. Kind of creepy.

vegas was not the only hero out on the prowl for evil.
initially he paid little heed to the light footsteps across the street, barely noticing them and instead fairly intent on concentrating on his phone. his mind was focused on google maps but as his location or direction became less vegas did not quake. after all, a hero of justice needed no maps! nay, vegas assured himself his strong sense of righteousness would act not only a moral compass but a literal one as well. he thought with such joy, such mirth, julio didn't take mind to look up until his company on the barren street cleared their throat.
the direct address definitely threw julio off. despite being on the search for someone he seemed surprised by the presence of someone else speaking to him. perhaps it was the politeness that earned the surprise or maybe it was that when julio glanced down whoever it was was clearly suited up.
t'was not as if julio hadn't expected company from fellow forces of justice! a grin quickly split on his face and julio's once-over was not discreet as he shamelessly checked out the other out. nay, a little bit of disappointment set in as it wasn't a mask or hero he recognised at all. no-one who'd been featured in the sponsor company magazines piled up in his dorm room but that was nary a tragedy! for had he stumbled onto some kind of independent? perhaps a new super? his imagination bubbled over with the beautiful possibilities and suddenly the biggest priority on vegas' mind was making a good impression.
“‘sir’?” julio stated and his voice was low and quiet, the intention to draw his audience - single audience member - in closer to hear him for when he repeated it again the teen was much louder, “‘sir’, is that truly a title befits a youthful avatar of justice...?”
“behold!” his movement was sudden but it turned not to be hostile. two fingers to his temple, his other arm held out and his tight jacket feebly stretching to try and work with julio's frame, midsection even barer, “this immortal soul, the chosen champion of fate, posits a question for the hero opposite him!” a grin. “he implores excuse you, sir.”
“how may vegas assist this fateful day?”

The young adult in front of Knight was very much deep into finding something on their phone. But they then slowly looked up at him, both men eyed each other. When Knight was closer to Julio, he finally noticed the VU varsity jacket, he sucked in his breath. Oh no, he fucked up, oh crap, this wasn’t good, oh balls. These thoughts quickly went through his mind, which was quite different than the other person’s thoughts. Suddenly Julio whispered, Knight looked one way and back to him; unless there was someone else here, yeah he was the only ‘sir’. When he repeated himself once more, but in a louder voice, Knight looked the other direction and back. Maybe he should just abscond the area, but then again he did have a super in front of him. ”Youthful avatar of justice?” Knight thought to himself, oh crap, if Theo was thinking correctly; this guy was the talk of the freshman group. Damn, he was tall for some eighteen years old. Knight held his ground, his arm tight next to his hanging weapon, his eyes narrowed behind the mask as Julio made his gesture. For the love of, Knight rolled his eye, the guy had his own banter. At least, ‘Vegas’ was harmless looking, at first glance. Knight didn’t know a lot of the freshmen, considering a lot of people would have warned a few here and there of who he was at the school. So, for now this might be good, possibly a win-win. This guy got to be a vigilante and Knight got a partner for the night attempting to find this villain. When Knight was about to make a suggestion to Vegas his Bluetooth once more crackled, but this time more distressing tone came up. Knight swiftly brought a hand up, signaling he needed a moment of silent, his eyes focused downwards. ”10-10 in progress at Meadows Corona. Seems to be a super, 10-18.” “10-0 when approaching.”He went for his pocket and brought out his phone once more, quickly going to the map app and seeing how far they were from the Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Not all that far from where they stood, his eyes flickered up to Vegas and a smile grew on his face. Now, of course he didn’t enjoy supers, but now was a perfect time to take someone on a mission like this. ”Yeah, you can be.” He gave a nod. ”I’ve heard there is some chaos with a Vireximus student; I’m out to stop them. I would appreciate the help.” Knight’s jaw tightened slightly, he’s never had to ask for help before, guess there’s a first time for everything. But, that would be a problem to deal with later, right now someone was in trouble and they needed to move quickly. JULIO VEGAS:: 10-10=Fight in progress 10-18=Urgent 10-0=Caution. I don’t know if I’m using this correctly, but it makes everything seem cooler! >B]

the hero commanded silence so julio returned silence! for a short while anyway. following what julio allowed to past for an introduction it seemed there were other matters on other hero's mind! at the raised hand, julio ceased speaking, lowering his own arms, and looked on with curiosity. he didn't hear anything on the night save for the usual quiet buzz of suburban new york. confusion swept him though vegas assured himself the silence had to be dictated for some reason or another. and while julio would accept silence for the sake of pure suspense and drama he grew a little impatient if just because standing still kept him cold. especially as there was nothing on the floor where the hero opposite was looking when julio looked out of curiosity and excitability.
when it seemed vegas could be of heroic assistance today he beamed, choosing to announce his happiness as well, “celebrations! and salutations.” jollification for later, there was another thing on vegas' mind, “for whist vegas' opposite no doubt recognises this--” pulling on the varsity jacket his companion had taken mind to check out julio thumbed the ‘VU‘ embroidered on its breast, “--he has approximately zero knowledge of whomever stands before him this destined day.”
“so speaketh, brave hero. reveal one's identity unto the night!” julio couldn't fight for justice alongside a man completely anonymous, could he?
“forsooth, vegas heard the same.” the school rumours came to mind and julio brought a knuckle to his chin in exaggerated thoughtfulness, thumb stroking along his jaw, “sure as he hears the world's beating heart he heard such whispers of deceit in vireximus' mists.” pausing for a beat, realisation flashed across the face, “there's word of something new?” that could have explained the pause the other took; bluetooth or something? julio had only really come into contact with that kind of technology during teamwork seminars.
the other stated the need for assistance the hero of justice took time before he replied. despite the ensuing chaos across queens unbeknownst to him he taking the proposition with deliberation even having initially offered. finally, after some contemplation, vegas' grin widened, “if the respective paths of two knights of justice collide who would vegas be to deny a righteous coalition?”

The younger hero, like Knight had any room to speak being on the streets working for five years now, radiated with delight at the mission give spoke up for his excitement. Internally Knight sighed and fought to roll his eyes, heroes who had too much energy gave him a headache. Knight then looked at the jacket, noting the VU once more and slightly chuckled with slight annoyance. Knight’s small smile then straightened out, introduction time. That’s right, he was so use to running around and helping, he neither came up with a witty banner, seeing it as a waste of time, nor would tell people who he was, unless he felt the need to. Around pretty women. Any other time, Knight would have been at the site, did his thing and left quickly. He didn’t like dealing with the police, they were just a bunch of airheads. Knight cleared his. ”I’m Knight. With a k.” He took off his hood with his free hand, his wild hair went everywhere. The other tightly held onto the phone that had directions ready to go to park. Once Vegas opened his mouth once more, Knight recognized something that slightly threw him off. This guy’s eccentric was speaking in third person. Oh did he pick the right partner; instead of really showing off annoyance Knight balled his hand into a fist a few times in place of raising it to rub the bridge of his nose. But luckily, Vegas did hear about what was going on. Then Knight rose an eyebrow; something new? Knight’s hand then flickered up to the Bluetooth that was inserted in his ear, the frantic noise of silent static sung in his ear for now. ”Well, from what I have picked up is that the person does have bone manipulation.” Knight looked down; remembering showing up to crime scenes after everyone has left to investigate himself, the substance that police left behind was laughable, no wonder they needed superheroes. Sadly, being a vigilante made it hard to get to victims so he could not truly know who this person really was. And at least, giving the younger vigilante a fair warning before he went into detail as to where they were heading off to. ”But what just happened is that something is going down at Meadows Corona Park. The police don’t sound too happy ‘bout this.” Knight eyed his phone for a brief moment, picking up the direction they needed to go. His other free hand flickered up and pointed west-ward. ”We need to head that way.”Knight clicked his phone off and putting it back into his pocket. After that, he looked back up at Vegas, his eyes curious as to what Vegas was going to do now. JULIO VEGAS

in vegas' humble opinion, this hero's introduction was lacking in something and he certainly made his disappointment no secret. pursing his lips together, face fallen somewhat from its initial excitement, he continued to look on expectantly in the hope of something more. the dramatic hood reveal had promise, certainly! but such tame execution, such lazy delivery!!!!
“that's all?” it seemed so but vegas begged the facts not to be true. whilst he did not expect other heroes have as zestful delivery as he julio assumed some would at the very least try. knight. with a k. if he was scrapping the barrel there was maybe a somewhat commendable use of a pause but little else positive could be said of this hero's performance. was this all he was truly getting to work with - not even a hair-flip? and this was without having started on the hero name but vegas would suppose he could make his full judgement on that later.
vegas, hero of justice, believed he had his hands full enough already with a super-powered mugger and such a lacklustre companion.
“no matter!” he sharply continued on, mind quickly abuzz again despite the pit stop of despair over knight. after all, champions of justice were set challenges; the uninspired performance was just another thing to tackle on this sacred day. truly, this knight hero was blessed to run into vegas, “it is a pleasure to make knight's acquaintance - nay, not a pleasure, but a meeting foretold by the stars themselves!” perhaps he was feeling the need to compensate for knight's lack of enthusiasm as julio's gesture towards the sky was wild, dramatic, “see how they shine for this saintly gathering!” and that a thunderous voice was also trying to make up for the city pollution that such shining stars totally unseeable.
“truly, truly, nothing non-circumstantial will be exchanged tonight,” bringing his hand down it turned into a low dip for a exaggerated bow. once vegas found himself upright again he adjusted the jacket again but not without adding, “especially with knight so caring as to accommodate an audience had they ever the need to spell his name. truly, it is a priority all heroes should take.” it had meant to be tongue-in-cheek but vegas had to stop to consider that - would he ever need to spell out his own alias? maybe something worth considering for his future introductions.
once again, no matter! thoughts off spelling he listened in with close attention to the revelation. and what a revelation it was! bone manipulation was specific not to mention unique and julio seemed surprised by it, “is this certain?” he knew little of the demographics on campus but bone manipulation seemed a unusual power to have. openly flaunting it as an evil-doer seemed like an unwise move, even by julio's standards.
“one would have thought such details would have been spread across campus,” initially julio had no intention of doubting the information as he was handed it, it was more a reflexive habit of externalising what should be internal monologuing contemplating why bone manipulation wasn't the talk of vireximus university. it seemed doubting the information hadn't occurred to vegas just yet.
with the mention of the police julio didn't bother making his dislike subtle there either. that time he visibly pulled a face having once having been glad to be given specific details, “those false idols of justice?” vegas stuck out his tongue, a move apparently suitably mature for a hero of justice and he turned away stubbornly, “vegas had no intention of coming face to face with them tonight.” he 'd prayed to lady fate herself that he would bypass their mortal shenanigans but it seemed lady fate was rarely kind. furthermore, suspicion set in not at knight's abundant information but at the fact he was listening into police, “is vegas' companion further entangled with them?”
however, julio kept his hope up as flushing meadows corona park was definitely a place he recognised. he considered that a victory in itself. now eager to set off julio seemed prepared to set off in the wrong direction had it not been for knight's useful point the right way, “glorious, then he and knight must be on their way at once!” he already starting setting off, adding on emphatically, “and vegas shall give knight hero pointers along the way.” as a champion of all that was moral julio had to do something about that sordid introduction, no?

Vegas didn’t like his delivery. That was Vegas’ problem not Knights, ain’t nobody got time for witty banner, by the time you got half way through one you were blasted to high heaven, Knight knew that. But to see the disappointment kind of pissed him off that he sighed lightly in displeasure. An eyebrow harshly lifted up as Vegas attempted to move off from the introduction. And once more, the guy was on his own rant. Stars? That was laughable as Knight looked up at the smog sky. In all his years living there in New York, he has never seen any more than a handful of stars, if he was lucky. Once more, he sighed to himself, if this guy was going to be loud when they meet up with the enemy, this was going to be a long night and of one full of bruises and cuts. Knight then watched as the man bowed, that was a small jacket was the only thought that went through Knight’s mind. ”You would think, with a manipulation like that.” Knight rubbed his chin in thought, even he didn’t know anyone on campus that would hold a power such like that and he fought almost anyone who was around his age or older. This person could possibly poising as someone ‘normal’ at the university just like Knight was and even then someone like of his stature was hard to find at the university, as well. Looking up from his own thinking, Vegas didn’t seem to enjoy the other side of justice. Of course, corruption happened within the police realm and that made it harder to work as hero, especially as someone who was independent of a sponsor. ”Yeah, I’m not really big on encountering them. When I typically work, it’s out of sight and out of mind of them.” Knight sighed, it was already annoying as a civilian to see them. But luckily to get his own information as to what was even happening around the city meant he literally had to become a shadow around them. ”As for being entangled with them, no. There are apps on a phone where you can listen on their conversations.” Which in his opinion was kind of foolish, but Knight wasn’t going to complain about that. Luckily for the bigger vigilante Knight didn’t notice he was about to walk to wrong direction but started moving the way they were supposed to go. This was going to take a while, but hey when you’re a poor college student, a sweet ride wasn’t going to show up any time. Knight’s head then snapped over at Vega; pointers? What was that supposed to mean? ”Excuse me?” He said as he started to accelerate his pace to make it to the park. JULIO VEGAS

vegas was elated to know that despite a lack of riveting heroing charisma knight was more or less in agree with him in regards to the power. it prompted further discussion, “vegas is not a hero who invests heavily in speculation…” speculation was but a harbinger of doom, too much was too dangerous! so he decided to conceal his considerations, if just to make him feel better, “but hark! there are whispers he hears, truths of from the immortal world!” fingers to his temple, he attempted to relay them, “lady fate wonders and she wonders unto vegas: does vireximus play a hand in the concealing?”
suddenly, he clenched at the clothing above his heart, pulling at the tight fabric of his crop top, “his heart aches as fate's does as does vu's!” a veritable congo line of aching hearts, “such pain, such mystery, lady fate can only tell vegas there is far more to be found out.” for obvious reasons, lady fate was as vague as julio himself.
knight's distrust of police seemed enough to sate vegas. whilst he still seemed a little wary julio nodded along with the words anyway for if there was anything two heroes could bond over perhaps it could be despairing over the state of current justice!!!
“indeed, it is vegas' constant hope that his path doth not entwine with theirs, he is glad knight shares the same reasoning,” a sigh before he raised his voice, “but a tragic inevitably! it is seems it is spoken that whilst vegas meets another another honourable hero he also may come to face with the police. thus the same fate is foretold for knight.” and although apps were a beautiful creation of the gods themselves combined police they were not. the tactical sense of listening in on the police did not outweigh the costs of them being the police for julio but he accepted the information for then, given it was all they had as a lead.
and hah, knight seemed eager for pointers; that was how vegas interpreted, grinning widely. they may have been in a rush but that did not stop him from imparting great words of wisdom, “didn't knight feel something missing?” alongside the other's quick pace, julio sped himself up, “pray, vegas can only hope knight felt something missing. a rip in the fabric of knight's sou!.” this was followed by something of a titter, “for otherwise knight cannot be serious! surely he does not truly expect to get by in the justice world with that kind of introduction?” julio's pace was so much to assure he kept a little ahead of the other, balancing expressive monologuing and walking fast further ahead of the other, a not so subtle attempt to keep in front, “has he spelt his name out to all those who come across him, hero and villainy alike?” a scoff, “nay, where is his hero passion? his champion delivery? where is his pose?”

The university hiding information from the students? That never really crossed Knight’s mind. It could be possible, heroing is just like a big game, especially for those out for money. But then the university really isn’t like that; is it? Knight looked up at the dark sky, the question tickling the back of his mind ”If they are hiding information, what reason would they need to?” He looked over at his acquaintance. This guy’s talking in third person started to give him a headache but Knight bit back his tongue. Lady fate; what was this guy’s deal? But then again, he was right, there had to be reason behind all of this. But then again what could two students really do against a large university like VU? Of course, anyone who was hero, especially a vigilante, didn’t want to fisticuffs with the cops, they never did anything right. And with his few close encounters with the police did make Knight’s stomach tighten up. ”Yeah, well, let’s just hope we’re going to be working a little faster than them.” Knight huffed out. Something missing? Knight looked behind him until Vegas had caught up with Knight but was slightly ahead, to make sure that Knight’s attention was on him. Knight felt like he understood what Vegas was getting at and at the same time tried to ignore that feeling. ”Well I don’t feel anything missing or ripping from the soul.” He mumbled, looking around the neighborhood. Damn it, of course it would be the introduction. ”First off, no I don’t spell my name, I just thought it would be covenant from one hero to another to know how the name was spelt.” Knight looked over at Vegas. ”And secondly, once you’ve been in a few battles, most villains don’t wish to hear your shpeal. I’ve had to learn that quickly.” Knight snapped back, his eyes narrowed slightly. ”Once you get into a fight, everything dries up; thoughts, words, and your mouth.” Knight looked forward once more with a hard stare. ”Unless you get a wordy one, those are easier to knock down.” He shrugged slightly; wordy villains and criminals were much, much easier to take care than the serious ones. Hopefully this one would be a wordy bastard. JULIO VEGAS

oh, further speculation was at hand, knight demanded it! at the probing question julio took a thoughtful look, knuckle to his chin in a a psuedo-thinker pose, “a plethora of reasons.” a deliberate pause, “nay, a veritable cornucopia of them! how could vegas just list one with the light of lady fate guiding his knowledge?”
thumping his chest, julio brought attention back to his dramatic acts earlier, “doth knight not remember how vegas' heart ached? the spirit of vireximus university worries, oh, how its incorporeal form broods.” another prophetic message was coming, “it sensed in its midst a populace with only one thing on their mind: retribution! revenge! suspicion!” that was actually three things but vegas heed himself no notice, more concentrated on emphasising his delivery. once again, his fingers went to his temple, “halt! vegas has been granted a vision.”
and julio actually did halt in his steps to experience it, stopping their otherwise swift progress towards flushing meadows, “he sees another world, another future.” his right hand cradled above his heart still, his other hand up in an attempt to bid silence from his companion, “a haunting reality where vireximus has nary care for the lives of its students! once innocent, now sinful students who start a calamitous witch hunt with the wicked whispers of bone manipulation. t'is a a deviant realm where heroes turn on heroes in a twisted quest to root out those who possess the villain's mastery, a parallel world which can only end in tragedy.” and with that prophecy done, he opened his eyes and stood somewhat triumphantly, “just one of the many alternate realms spawned yet not the one fair lady fate dictates today!”
picking up his pace again, he did offer one last theorem, if just a little hastily, “perhaps it is in this world vireximus seeks to extinguish threat of vigilantism with a drought of information yet–” heavy emphasis on the yet, “–knight and vegas are both here tonight with the scared words of destiny, no?” maybe knight's thought of fast work was also extinguished with julio's insistence on pausing to relay what was going on in parallel universes but from what he could tell they were getting closer and closer to the park so it mattered not, starting to cross a pedestrian bridge with his typical boisterousness.
knight even mumbled his later retorts though; to vegas it seemed he was intent on taking little of these well-minded critiques to heart with continued lacking delivery! was vegas' new companion sulking at being told he was missing something from the equation of heroism. the somewhat impassioned defence got only a laugh from the self-proclaimed hero of justice as he quickly dismisses the excuses, “hah! most villains doth not want to hear it when it is boring.” vegas assumed so, anyway, “there is one veritable upside of coming face to face with a foe in combat: a hero's coming victory guarantees an audience.”
though, vegas had to admit, some of knight's response was somewhat improved in terms of befitting a hero. however, julio had never really been one for words drying up, “nay, that is not the case for hero vegas! the day his thoughts, words and mouth dry up would be a wretched day for heroism – nay, the fate of the world itself — indeed.” it was an assured reply to knight's intense look, “for a hero must always speak of valour in times of uncertainty! thus, his introduction should reflect, not orthography.” he was grinning again; it was very apparent julio didn't intend to let the spelling issue drop. even as they finally reached an entrance of flushing meadows park.
the entrance which was closed to the public past 9pm, prompting a loud, somewhat petulant question from julio as he shivered a little, “does this villain respect little sacred?”

Knight grunted, he his right, there could be so many reasons. And that is what made this so annoying, the school didn’t have to do jack for their students besides provide further education and say ”Congratulation, you can fight bad guys now!” Looks like when tonight was over that was going to be something he would need to further investigate.
That was three things; this guy doesn’t even have his head on right. Internally sighing, he still listened to his new found companion. Suddenly, Vegas yelled out a halt and Knight listened he scooted to a halt, a deep frown coming across the young man’s face. He was about to speak up in protest wondering what he wanted but Vegas was finally speaking once more and held a hand up for some silence. This guy really was just for show. It was obvious this student was willing to fight others students, that is the way you get stronger. So, Theo kind of understood how this person felt. No way, tonight was going to be strength of will between a super and normie; this was going to be his chance, pretty much like leveling up in a video game! Oh this was going to be awesome for Knight, a twitch of an oncoming smile came on his face but disappeared; no distraction, he looked at Vegas, at least hopefully no more.
That could be true; no information given meant students could not go out and fight. Maybe the university was worried about its reputation it had to keep up for up-and-coming heroes and sponsors. How many other students would decide to fight evil unaffiliated? Probably very little, hoping to get into good light with sponsors, or at least what Knight has seen through his father’s business. Finally on the move once more, hitting the bridge, it was still a very quiet night, nothing was happening. Yet, here they were going on, the muscles in Knight’s body screamed to draw his weapon but he decided against it for now. The excitement of finding a fight that would bring good up was getting to Knight, the adrenaline rushing all throughout his body.
Nothing Knight was saying was getting through to this guy. Really, boring? Then knight chuckled sarcastically. ”Sometimes, you won’t have an audience.” He raised a brow in amusement. Vegas was little different but it still didn’t exclude him from the feelings he has against those that have power, not the business kind but that this is hidden within.
Once more a laugh, not the joyful kind, escaped from his lips. ”You’re kind of naïve aren’t you?” He asked, looking up at Vegas. ”But, you are right, when you practice what you’re going to say, it kind of sucks when it doesn’t come out right or even at all.” He looked up in thoughts. ”But then again, sometimes it’s better not to say anything at all.” Knight gave a shrug. Then Knight sighed, he wasn’t going to drop that. He just wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to get made fun of for being Night, why would a hero be called Night? Especially after making the change from White Knight to just Knight made things a little frustrating at first, but then some of the civilians started to catch on; some . As they both slowed down, Knight looked up at the park ahead of them, everything seemed pretty peaceful; for now. ”Does this villain respect little sacred?” Knight looked over at Vegas and then the sign that proclaimed the park closed at 9pm. Was this person trying to draw them out? He stretched out his fingers a little, no he had to wait till it can be for certain. ”I don’t know. But it looks like we’re going to have to break some rules ourselves.” He looked over at the park and back to Vegas once more. Wait, would he even break a small rule like this? JULIO VEGAS

“nay, there will always be an audience,” julio asserted it triumphantly. knight had the gall to look amused yet vegas was merely speaking of the truth of the ancients! the suggestion that he was naïve got a dismissive reaction as one would probably expect. especially not with that laugh beforehand; it sounded derisive but he hadn't expected such blunt words.
“‘naïve’?” initially julio repeated it with scorn and surprise but he puffed up his chest, taking the other's assertion with new found glory. vegas' bruised pride seemed not bruised for long, “behold! vegas' immortal soul has existed for over a millennia; its many reincarnations remain incalculable.” a scoff before he thumped on his chest, just above his chest, with his open palm, his tone a little petulant, “whatever naïvety knight proposes is a true product of these strange times, a figment of both knight's mind and pure circumstance. for this reason, how can he speak of naïvety?”
but of course vegas was right! not that he needed practice - or that much practice - for what he said. he'd been using third person since late high school, after all, “vegas need not fear bad delivery! he holds great confidence in himself and lady fate's blessing. perhaps it is understandable knight has that on his mind but vegas has other concerns!” he wrinkled his nose a little at knight's comment though, “vegas shall be the judge of when to say what.”
the tone of his voice was enough evidence that julio didn't think that would happen on the november night.
vegas pulled a face at the mere mention of breaking rules. folding his arms across his chest out of stubbornness – and half an attempt at conserving body heat — he proclaimed, “must knight and vegas resort to the same dogged rule-breaking as the villain at hand? must they stoop to such levels? must they?” a shake of his head.
“these truly remain dark times for humanity.”
despite the soliloquy it became apparent that julio didn't mind too much about breaking the park's laws in their investigations. he conceded to doing entering anyway; disobeying a park's laws t'was not the grimmest sin if the light of justice was at stake. besides, flushing meadow's closing times being disobeyed was not as immoral as breaking the code of justice or, alternatively, posting something against instagram's terms of use, “but in dark times, holy laws must be sacrificed.” besides, y'know, park laws didn't mean much if they caught an evildoer.
it didn't take long for julio to perk up from his self-imposed park law debate though. while he kept his arms crossed as he walked, the cold still getting to him, he was more interested in looking at whatever he could in flushing meadows park. one realisation had set in, “isn't flushing meadows really big?” and quiet too. julio revised his words to be a little more befitting for himself when he continued, “forsooth, the park is almost infinite in size.” infinite sounded far more hero-like than really big, after all.
“knight's insidious informants, did they speaketh more to him?” referring to the bluetooth julio looked to the other, shivering a little in the wide expanse of the park. for knowing that the police had warned of something in the area t'was awfully quiet. quiet save for julio's voice anyway.

Knight raised a brow, looked like he finally pressed a trigger when Vegas puffed his chest out. But sadly Knight’s own glorious win didn’t last long as Vegas recovered from what he said. So, Knight was actually right and Vegas admitted the naivety he had. When he asked the question it snapped Knight’s head back, his eyes went distant with his own memories. Knight then slowly blinked and gave his trademark sigh. ”I can speak of it because I’ve been there. I’ve been in this business for a while.” He solemnly stated his eyes flickered down to the dark ground before rising up once more. ”I know what it’s like to be naïve.”Knight then gave another small, amused smile. This was going to be the guy’s shtick, how he was going to be remembered. He gave a small shrug, whatever floated his boat, if Vegas were content and confidant enough in what he had to say, and then let it be so. Yet, this was a naivety he was talking about, one never knew what to expect. But if Vegas were planning on become a big super then what he has will probably work for the populace; Knight on the other hand probably couldn’t pull in a large crowd even if he tried, people wanted those with super talents, not normal human skills. Knight lightly scoffed at Vegas’ response, it felt like some acerbity was being used in his last statement. So, it seemed like Vegas could break some rules, or small ones at least; it seems like working with this big lug was going to be a little easier than what Knight thought. ”Yeah, of course.” Knight agreed with the sacrifice with a grunt. Starting to walk forward, he kept his composure as much as he could with the cold, he grew up here, he had to make it look like he was use to this stuff. He then stopped as Vegas’ words settled in. Oh crap, this park was big. Knight’s eyes looked up at the dark park; it only seemed infinite in size where they were. Maybe they should split up to make this easer. Oh god, why did the bad guy have to pick on the biggest parks in Queens? Knight tightened his jaw up, partially to the cold and another to his mind going into drive with thought. ”I think you’re over exaggerating there buddy.” Knight’s eyes went from the park over to Vegas. Knight then tilted his head slightly. Oh right, the Bluetooth that murmured what was happening beyond the park. He was focused on their conversation, he forgot about that. Knight wanted to slap his forehead for the stupidity but he quickly turned around to focus on what his hearing could pick up. There was some talk that they had finally entered the park. Knight sighed heavier than usual; the countdown to finding this villain had now began. Knight looked over to his night partner and finally fully turned to him. ”Well, it’s now or never. The popo are in now.” Knight then looked at the park, the silence welcoming them in. ”We should split up for now. Stay out of sight of the police. We’ll meet up at the Unisphere in 15 minutes, it’s a big globe. It can’t be that hard to miss.” Knight brought his arms up on the emphasis of the large globe that overshadowed the center. JULIO VEGAS

“… prithee, how long has knight “been in the business”?” the hero knight wasted little time boasting in return to vegas' admitted inexperience. with air quotes as he spoke the other's sordid nature did nothing for the mood of the evening! what was the other's solemn attitude for? eager to dispel the serious atmosphere the other was creating vegas stepped forward closer to the other. heartily, he made to clap the other's shoulder. entirely non-aggressive was definitely an enthusiastic motion, “lucky vegas accompanies the experienced knight then, verily so. spacing out doth nary seem safe, y'know?” casual only for a few moments more julio shrugged away that with the intent to banish knight's determinably sordid mood with it! grinning in spite of the park's massive size he waved off the calls of exaggeration. what other fitting way was there to describe flushing meadow park's size? it made their quest all the more thrilling, did it not? watching knight expectedly as he returned his attention to the bluetooth julio's reaction to the confirmation of police activity was an actual laugh. not his typical bellowing hero laugh deep from his chest. it was something genuine – and still loud in the silence of the park — and he sounded half-surprised. this wasn't so much about the police's activity, though, “if it is truly now or never, knight must plight to vegas one thing and only before he goes.” “henceforth he must strike popo from his usage. 'tis a scantling archaic, no?” like julio was one to be talking about outdated language. nonetheless, vegas took to knight's commands with vigour. exaggeratedly saluting he seemed eager enough to listen but before he headed off he did skid to a halt on one realisation, “vegas quoth lady fate: eight four five! nine three five! nine zero five four!” he seemed eager to set off otherwise and while vegas could think of a few other ways for “FOUND THE MYSTERY MUGGER“ to be communicated by cell seemed like the easier option. without much wait for the other to take it down he started again rapidly while walking backwards, “he shall repeat those sacred numbers: eight four five! nine three five! nine zero five four!” and grinning, he once again bowed dramatically before setting off in another direction with a fast, giddy pace. ––––––––––––––––––– fifteen minute time skip?? pidge is lazy \o\ /o/ ––––––––––––––––––– vegas was at the unisphere before fifteen minutes were even up. perhaps it seemed as if the hero of justice had given up on the quest as he was crouched on the ground, flicking through his phone absent-minded but fear not! t'was simply a change of plan. for vegas could not conduct business with the false idols of justice in wait and he wasn't risking a run in with them. additionally, justice would do no good stealthy; justice was nary sneaky!! julio had already mentally decided that it was time for a plan b as he hadn't seen anyone resembling the errant villain they were there for tonight. even if he'd only been searching for a short time. perhaps knight had found him already? the jealous thought made vegas shuffle in his spot low on the floor, impatience filling him as he flipped through instagram and vaguely contemplated taking a selfie. it was kinda his first time at flushing meadows park, after all. the hero of justice's first glimpse of the unisphere! however, julio had barely given it another glance since getting there but he'd worried not! he'd easily distracted himself with his phone and now he was set on a new goal. lifting himself up from his crouching position he got ready to take a photo. readying the camera, he tried to get the sight in the shot as well as the jacket he was wearing. if he had to return to return it when the morning came, may as well get a shot in it. but there was one thing that stopped him from taking the photo. namely that someone was suspended inside the unisphere, both unintentionally and unconventionally photobombing his selfie as a true evil villain would. @fate3
