@ @kat Lily didn’t even have a chance to open his mouth before Kaylee was out the door. Slowly, his hand drooped down with the extra sweet tea, and he was left staring at the opposite end of the hallway. She hadn’t even bothered to close the door. Anyone else and he would have stuck his head out the door, yelled an insult, and slammed it. That felt an awful lot like having a petty argument with a girlfriend, though—that’s what people with girlfriends did, right?—and it suddenly felt very hard to move a muscle.“Hey, buddy, you alright?” called a voice from across the hall. Shaking his head, Lily refocused his gaze in a glare to the other side of the hall and found another student looking at him oddly. He stalked forward, muttered “what are you looking at” and slammed the door. Women, he thought sulkily, leaving one can of sweet tea on the desk while he popped the other open with just one finger. What was her problem? Or was it his? She hadn’t been stuttering half as much until she’d kissed him—but she was the one who started that in the first place! He groaned and laid back onto his bed, shutting his eyes. Women were nothing but trouble, he decided, and that one most of all. Not like his day hadn’t been bad enough, and then she had to come along and spill her coffee on him and fill those pretty blue eyes up with tears and look all helpless like and in need of protection and pretty with the sun shining on her hair… He reached back to grab his pillow and smother himself. Something strange and soft brushed his fingers. With a frown, he pawed around until it hooked on his fingers, and he brought it up to the light. A hair tie? He didn’t use those—probably should, but he didn’t. Besides, this one was…cute. Soft and blue with little glass flower beads hanging off the edge. How in tarnation…Oh. Kaylee. Slowly closing his fingers around the object, Lily shut his eyes and sighed. Seemed like either Trouble would have to find him again, or he’d just have to go searching her out. Somehow, that didn’t seem like such a bad idea anymore. |
