Sunny days were always the best to spend outside. Sure, the leaves and branches on a tree could easily shield one from rain, especially when they were the size of a small bird, but there was something so refreshing about the clean, storm-free air! The only thing better than being out in the air on a sunny day was being out in the air on a sunny day that was previously rainy- the cool wetness would be warmed away by the sunlight and everything was cheerful and new.
Today was one of those days, which was why Clara found herself outside, perched on one of the upper branches of a tree, watching students as they traversed along the campus. She enjoyed watching people- not in a creepy way, but in a purely innocent and curious way. Perhaps she didn't always have innocent intent - she did enjoy playing tricks from time to time - but for the most part, curiosity was her driving force.
In her blue jay form, Clara could easily watch without being watched, so to speak. Sometimes she'd see shiny things down below, and would watch them intently to see what they were and whether or not they belonged to someone. Unfortunately, most of the time, they did belong to someone, and so she'd have a harder time getting her hands on them.
Clara found herself in such a situation today, but a much more maddening one. She had been studying the same student for at least a week, only getting more and more frustrated as time went on. The girl seemed to have some kind of electrical equipment in her hair (it seemed, at first) that Clara very much hoped would come off at some point so that she could 'borrow' it. However, after further investigation, it seemed that the object was, somehow, a part of this girl that was not so easily removed. At least, she'd never seen the girl without it. How on earth would she manage to get a hold of it, then? Even her blue jay side knew better than to just snatch things up right out of other peoples' possession. That was something stupid that only a seagull would do. Blue jays were intelligent and calculating, and she would not be made a fool of. And yet... the longer she waited, the more restless she became.
As Clara sat silently on the branch, the blue of her feathers a splash of colour against the green and brown of the tree, time went on. The light breeze moved the branch ever so slightly, and she fluttered a bit while gaining a better position on it. She was growing tired of waiting, but the excitement of it all kept her doing so. She would not give up the chase so easily, when such an interesting object was practically begging to be taken apart.
Notes: Hopefully this is all right for a starter! If you need anything changed, just let me know!
