[attr="class","stafftitle"]about vu
[attr="class","staffbod"]Vireximus University is the only higher education institute in the world dedicated to hero studies. It was set up by superheroes and their respective sponsors following an incident in 1969 which involved a supervillain focusing on recruiting college-aged superhumans.
Figures of importance in the establishment of VU include Henry Evers, codename Wonderman I, Bay Liu, superhero alias Tidess, and Berdy Tarrant, super genius scientist whose other noted conceptions include the Tarrant Transportation Hub, a high-tech station that revolutionised transportation across the US.
Initially with few students in the beginning VU’s focus was solely on college-aged gifted with just two colleges. Over the years the colleges have expanded to a total of four in order to adapt to the marginally increased attendance.
The four colleges in 2013 include:
The architecture of the university is easily comparable to the Ivy League save for Liu College of Elements (Bay Liu insisted it be designed by her favourite modernist and it's generally regarded an eyesore on campus). Additionally, College of Kinesis and ESP had to be rebuilt in the mid-nineties following an “accident”.
Central campus has university dorms and off-campus is where Greek houses are located. For information on those, please consult the Dorms thread as well as Fraternities and Sororities.
In 1990 there was a policy change in order to accept students who were non-gifted. Non-gifted students often have their lectures spread across campus.
VU accepts international students given it is the only university of its ilk in the world. While most freshman start at VU at eighteen, mature students may apply.
General studies modules and units are offered at VU but are not mandatory; some take these courses out of inclination for what undercover job they would like.
Students may apply for scholarships and there are many aimed for those from disadvantaged backgrounds
