▼ teenagers scare the living shit out of me they could care less as long as someone'll bleed so darken your clothes or strike a violent pose maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me "I don't know... it just feels weird and lopsided," Erik muttered as he scratched the short hairs of his recently half-shaven head. Erik had been sucked into the business of public deception a little over a year ago, and, from how everyone had been talking about him, it seemed that his career was going to be promising. His powers and his eyes made him an obvious choice for a villain, and after a bit of training he had been able to pull off the act pretty well. It was easy to make people hate him. Maybe he should have been concerned by this at the time, but Erik never let himself think about it too seriously. People who really realized the weight of what they did to their reputation on this job had a tendency to break. The actress he was working with -- who would have been quite pretty if it wasn't for the makeup injuries and and the image of beetles crawling under her skin -- made some comment along the lines of "at least you get to wear pants", which lightened the mood and brought a smile out of Erik "Heh, yeah, sorry, sorry, I shouldn't complain; you're definitely getting the short end of the stick here." Doing publicity stunts like this was always tricky, not to mention risky, so it felt good to be smiling instead of having his stomach being taken over by butterflies. His current partner warned that someone with powers was coming this way; aura-sensing was a fantastic ability to have in this line of work. "Ready for this?" Erik asked quietly. She nodded with a nervous exhale. Liar. No one was ever ready for this. A piercing shriek rang out from a dark alley in Queens. Anyone who was too curious or consumed by justice to ignore it would see a frightening sight: Erik had his hands clamped tightly around the girl's wrists, forcefully guiding her and, subsequently, using her as a human shield as she wailed. He knew it wasn't entirely fake. He knew she could feel those creatures of her nightmares eating through her flesh. "Oh sweetheart, your voice is beautiful when you scream," he hissed with a wicked grin as he saw a stranger approach. Turning his unnatural gaze to the newcomer, Erik -- or rather, Spooky -- smirked with pleasure. "Oooh, we have a contender," The boy cackled as he leaned in and licked the woman along the side of her cheek, "Are you here to fight for the fair lady's hand? I'm afraid I've already made her mine..." The suggestive tone in his voice didn't require any more elaboration. The implication was that he had raped her, and he was quite enjoying the aftermath.

Terrence could only groan as he kicked a pebble as he walked the worn sidewalk leading to his house. Today actually wasn't too bad. He and his best friend, Jae, had come up with an awesome idea for their little group. Unfortunately, they lacked the influence, as well as the resources, to make any of it come into fruition. That, and there haven't been any recruits for a while. Sure, their numbers aren't too bad, and they have helped out the police, albeit in secret, but they really needed some more manpower.
He was about to reach for his cell, when a sudden shriek came out from the alleyway that was a couple feet away from him. Forgetting everything about his less than desirable day, Terrence whipped out a white mask that looks vaguely like a dog with red markings from his bag, and snapped it on as he stopped right in front of the alley. What he saw would be ingrained into his mind forever. A guy around his age who looked like a punk/goth had a look of sadistic glee as he held his wailing victim. The red and black eyes held no remorse as he all but admitted to doing the dastardly deed. And if that wasn't enough, the sheer look of fear and pain the woman was showing sealed the deal.
There were a few things in this world that Terrence would never forgive. Rape is pretty damn high on that list. Unfortunately, the bastard was using the woman as a meat shield. He couldn't just fire lightning, or else he'd shock the victim too. Sheer, cold rage was building up from beneath him, but he couldn't let it cloud his thinking. His sense of justice is higher than that.
"You..." He spat out in disgust as he glanced around for something to use. His eyes then landed upon a side door in the alley. There was a small light above the door, which probably held enough electricity for him to test out an attack. Thankfully, his mask helped cover what he was doing. "Let go of her. Now." Unbeknownst to Terrence, the air around the alleyway suddenly dropped a couple of degrees due to his latent ice manipulation powers.
No, he was too busy preparing to give the goth the shock of his life.

▼ teenagers scare the living shit out of me they could care less as long as someone'll bleed so darken your clothes or strike a violent pose maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me A mask? This guy must have been a vigilante. If there was a sponsored hero running around Queens with a mask like that, Erik would have heard about it from his superiors before he was sent on this publicity stunt. That meant two things. On the plus side, vigilantes rarely ever had any backing. There was a low possibility of reinforcements, and an even lower chance of any effective legal action. However, the second factor was that they were unpredictable, especially the lesser-known ones. They could have any superhuman power and any level of experience; they could try to subdue and imprison him or go straight for the throat. Anything could happen. "That doesn't sound very fun," Spooky pouted as he roughly stroked his "victim's" cheek with a pale hand which would be covered in tattoos a few years later, "I think you should come over here and dance with us," he hissed with a mischievous grin. He wrapped his arm around her waist, swaying back and forth as he hummed some slow tune. Although it still looked like he had the girl under control, he wasn't touching her skin directly, so she wouldn't be able to perceive those crawling vermin anymore. He noticed earlier that she had started shaking and tears were running from her eyes. If she was acting, then all the power to her, but Erik didn't want her to suffer any more than necessary. "And your friend," he quietly spoke as an afterthought, although only the three of them were in the alleyway, "He should come dance with us, too, if he can still walk."

Being new to the vigilante life did have its advantages and disadvantages. For one, he was something akin to the wild card. No one knew what he could do, and how he did things. This would either cause the villain to underestimate or overestimate him. Thankfully, both cases seemed to help him as common thugs seemed to cower under him after a showy demonstration of his powers, and more experienced criminals seemed to shrug him off as a newbie when it came to his powers. Unfortunately, being new means he lacked the experience in handling super villains, actor or not. This guy was the first super villain Terrence had ever encountered up close, let alone fight.
The fact that he had quite the short fuse at this point in time didn't help matters. Just listening to Erik speak made all the surrounding electronics fizz and spark. The plan he had for the small light he eyed earlier was ruined, as all the surrounding electricity came to Terrence, cloaking him in a crackling aura. Thankfully for him, the electricity acted as a calming stimulant, so he got his head straight before he could even think of throwing a bolt of electricity to Erik. As he glared at Erik, everything seemed to click.
"I thought I saw you from somewhere..." He half grumbled, half spat out. He had sneaked a peek at a police file containing all the info they had on Spooky during one of his "missions". Needless to say, Spooky earned his right on the top five of Terrence's shit list. Oh, how great it was going to be to finally fry the bastard to Hell. "You messed with the wrong neighborhood, Spooky." He hissed with no small amount of malice.
While he spoke, one of his hands slowly made its way to a pouch on his cargo shorts, which held needles that could hold enough electricity to numb the surrounding area of whatever it hit. As much as he'd like to end it with one clean shot to the head, he knew he wasn't prepared to end someone's life. That, and he doesn't want to have anyone's blood on his hand, evil or not. Sending him to the police would have to suffice.
With frightening accuracy, he pulled out three needles and threw them at Erik's arms in one fluid motion, and rushed forward as soon as the needles took flight. The only danger to the electricity-filled needles is the potential to stop the organs from functioning. But, since another shock would reverse that effect, the victim would be safe. Unfortunately for Spooky, he won't be so lucky, since Terrence prepared an electricity-coated hand that could punch through steel with his name on it.

▼ teenagers scare the living shit out of me they could care less as long as someone'll bleed so darken your clothes or strike a violent pose maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me Erik wasn't too experienced in this business, either. Almost all of his time was spent physically training, getting his artificial backstory straight, and getting intentionally spotted by a few security cameras without starting any real chaos. Hero actors did most of his job for him, spreading rumors about what his abilities could be and whispering theories about his motives (or lack thereof). But rumors could only get a person so far, and if villain actors only ever interacted with "heroes" under the same sponsor, people usually began to catch on to the ruse. Publicity stunts were about as real as it got in this job. They required Erik to not only stay in character, but also successfully evade capture or fatal injury while making a memorable impression and managing to not seriously harm anyone. This confrontation was only his second. Erik noticed the lights begin to flicker as an electric glow enveloped the masked vigilante. Brilliant. Just brilliant... He could already tell that this was going to hurt. "Terrence... Terrence, oh God, help me... help me..." the frantic voice broken up by sputtering coughs of blood hadn't shut up since the masked opponent showed up so, since neither his "hostage" nor the teen standing across from him were reacting to it, Erik could only assume that it was the vigilante's fear. Who it was was a total mystery to him; it wasn't like Erik got a complimentary detailed explanation about what his hallucinations portrayed. Regardless, he was more interested in the name that kept getting dropped than the nature of the fear right now. "Terrence". He'd bet anything that was the name of the other male. The vigilante's words elicited a deranged grin from Spooky's lips. He could see his opponent's hands sneaking into those pockets, but he had a few tricks of his own. "Funny--" he began just before flicking a finger and blocking whatever had just been thrown his way with an off-white substance. Although it poured from one of his jacket's sleeves and morphed into a protective disk as if it were liquid, the metal needles bounced right off.Of all the body parts he was capable of manipulating, bone was definitely his favorite. The thought crossed his mind that he probably should have just moved his arms so that his "hostage" got hit instead, but he didn't have time to dwell on it. The tempo of this dance was about to speed up. "I think this shithole is exactly where I need to be. You want me out? You're gonna' to need to do better than that, Terrence." His voice deepened into a venomous growl as he shoved his acting partner towards the male. She shrieked as his fingers touched her skin again. Hoping that was enough of a distraction to avoid being electrocuted, Erik took the opportunity to dash into a side alley, his bone disk hovering beside him. When he and his little team scouted out the area beforehand, they had planted some props for him to use, and, against this guy, Erik was pretty sure he was going to need them.

With his somewhat cleared mind, Terrence quirked an eyebrow at Erik's reaction to his needles. Why go through the trouble of deflecting it when you had a perfectly good meat shield in your arms? ...And on that note, maybe he should visit the school psychiatrist because that thought was pretty damn morbid. Fortunately, that thought process was broken; unfortunately, it was by Erik badmouthing his home and somehow knowing his name as he threw his victim towards the newbie vigilante. He didn't have much time to process what happened, as all the electricity circling his body was gone as he caught the screaming victim.
As he caught her, he saw a glimpse of Erik running to a side alley. While he didn't know the alleyways of his hometown too well (something he'd remedy in a few years), he knew enough that the side alleys were either dead ends, or had a chain-link fence leading to another alley. With a grunt, he looked down at the victim, and tried to sooth her pain with a quick, harmless jolt to her neck, knocking her out into a peaceful sleep.
With no time to lose, Terrence whipped out his cellphone and some needles, calling a friend while supercharging his needles in one of his experimental moves. "...Yo, Derek? I need your help. ...Yes, there's a baddie, but nothing I can't handle. No, it's the victim I need help with. ...Nah, I knocked her out. I just need you to take care of her. We're in the alleyway between the pizza place and the laundromat. ...Shut up. I know it's cliche, but it happens. Now get your ass here, pronto."
By the time he hung up his phone, he was in front of the side alley. While it wasn't ideal, there was only a chain-link fence in the way of another exit. Well, at least he came prepared, with three needles in each hand, charged to give a very harsh stun. That, and the fence is a wonderful conductor of electricity. A good fallback. "So, Mr. Spooky. Care to tell me how you know my name before I turn your brain to mush?" He spoke with a sickeningly sweet tone that promised pain beyond pain.
